I don’t normally leave reviews, but the DFAC at Fort Polk seriously needs attention. The food quality was extremely disappointing. The beans looked overcooked and unappetizing, the vegetables were bland and poorly prepared, and the overall tray presentation was honestly depressing. The only decent part of the meal was the fruit and milk — everything else lacked flavor, care, and basic effort.
For Soldiers who are expected to maintain high physical performance and morale during demanding training cycles, meals like this do the opposite. Nutrition is fuel. When the food feels thrown together and low quality, it directly impacts motivation and overall morale.
Service was also lacking. Staff seemed disengaged and unable to answer simple questions about the food being served. There was no sense of pride or professionalism behind the line. Soldiers are automatically paying for these meals — we should at least receive food that meets basic standards of quality and preparation.
This experience wasn’t just disappointing — it was discouraging. The DFAC should support readiness, not make Soldiers feel like they’re settling for less than the bare minimum.
Leadership needs to take a serious look at quality control and service standards here. Soldiers deserve better.

What can I say, this place just does it right when it comes to food and service. I did not notice a sanitation rating in this establishment but if I was grading, I would give this place an A-. The roaches and bugs are actually dead which is a good sign. The food could not have been better, I left this place feeling like how a Soldier should leave feeling. Happy and full of life, ready to crush whatever the day has in store for me. Idk what chemicals they use to make our food but it’s some good stuff. Hands down beats any diner I’ve ever been too. Will be back for more. Thanks team for such a warm welcoming family environment.

I remember when this was built. Great when a Brigade is running it. If there is no support, and it is just whomever is running that day, it is not worth the 25-minute walk to go eat. Its the Army, but damn, I have been at funerals that had more atmosphere.

My 3 year old eats more food than what they give us here. I don’t know how they expect to sustain soldiers in a hostile environment when they give you a teaspoon of eggs in the morning and half an ounce of chicken for dinner. It’s kind of embarrassing. I mean the food doesn’t taste bad, but the portions are so small you’re burning more calories walking to the dfac than you’re consuming there. 10/10 would rather have an MRE.
Also, if you have religious restrictions on having meat, don’t expect them to follow it unless you give them at least a month in advance.

Of the four flavors of milk provided, 2%, chocolate, strawberry, and banana, if the ratio doesn’t change, the extreme dearth of 2% and chocolate vs excessive quantities of strawberry and banana, I’m gonna defect to North Torbia.
Also, everything is gross, the food is barely adequate or edible, and I’m fairly certain none of the table condiments have seen refrigeration after opening.
