Long-running white-tablecloth steakhouse with traditional fare, including seafood, plus many wines.

I really want to rate higher because the service was amazing, but I find steak quality disappointing for the price. We went for Valentine’s Day and really appreciated the attentive staff, but the food itself did not quite justify the cost.
We arrived about 10 to 15 minutes early and were seated right away since our table was ready. Our server was friendly, helpful with recommendations, and the food came out quickly. We were able to re-cork and take unfinished wine home with no extra fee, and the complimentary chocolate-covered strawberries for Valentine’s Day were a very nice touch.
I ordered the 20 oz ribeye ($68). It was cooked medium rare as requested, but a large portion of the weight was bone, which was disappointing. The texture of the meat was strange. It wasn’t chewy, but it felt mushy and crumbly when cut, almost sandy, which made it less enjoyable. It was also served on a small hot plate set inside another plate, leaving very little room to comfortably cut the steak.
My partner ordered the prime rib. I actually preferred the texture of his over mine, but it was served quite cold. When we asked to pack leftovers to go, our potato sides were not included even though we had quite a lot left. We also ordered Balsamic Bruschetta for appetizer, and it really needed more flavors and basil.
The atmosphere was nice overall, but the bathroom was not very clean.
In the end, while the service stood out, the steak quality did not match the price point. I think there are other steakhouses that offer better value for similar or lower prices.

What a great experience. Old school dining, professional staff, excellent food. Everything about this place is special. Had the seafood bisque, NY Strip Steak, mashed with garlic, coffee. Go here, bring your family.

My mom and I had a great time celebrating my birthday during restaurant week. From the initial greeting by the hosts to our server and all the staff, thank you! I had the cheddar, potato soup with bacon bits. Amazing! We both had the filet that was cooked to perfection with a wonderful marinade topped with feta cheese. Yummy! My mom loved her Taramasu and I had the cream cheese moose with fresh berries. Delicious! I would highly recommend this place!

This supper club in Madison’s west side has been in business over 50 years so we had to check it out! The place definitely has a classic supper club feel with lots of small, square dining areas giving visitors lots of privacy which is appreciated. Everything started out great with multiple people attending to us and taking our order. The drinks were ok but the calamari was absolutely amazing! Moving on to the main courses we had the chicken Caesar salad and the featured steak of the evening. The salad was good but the steak was legit RAW when we ordered it medium. After dropping our food, our waiter never came back! Eventually after 20/25 minutes we flagged someone down to get the steak cooked more but it kind of ruined the entire experience. Overall it was ok but we won’t be back ♀️

The ribeye steak was the best I had in Madison. The garlic mashed potatoes amazing as well. Salad with the house dressing really good! I would just suggest trying other bread to start but food was very very delicious!

We are out of towners who love this traditional steak and seafood restaurant! We have eaten at Delaney’s several times in the last 6 months, while visiting Madison, and every time our dinner has been delicious. We had reservations for our first two visits and dined with friends in the dining rooms that are very quiet and private. The service by Peter was wonderful and the food was delicious both times. Everyone at our table was pleased with what they ordered. All steaks were done as requested and the seafood was excellent as well. Some of our visits have been just myself and my husband and we have opted for dining in the bar area and our dinners there were also excellent. Each entree we have ordered there has been perfect, and we have tried a couple of desserts as well. The baked Alaska was the best we have ever had, and the Guinness chocolate cake (recommended by bartender Mike) was to die for. We dine out quite often and we both agree that Delaney’s bartenders/servers are the best! All of them have been courteous, knowledgeable at their trade and friendly. The drinks they have made for us are always a hit, from martinis and Manhattans to after dinner ice cream drinks, with the grasshopper being husband Jerry’s favorite. Mike’s quick wit keeps us laughing and Ben, bar manager, has been helpful in picking a good wine and a pleasant tequila for myself and friends. While dining at the bar a couple of times we have met some of the very nice regulars who have shared good conversation with us. We are looking forward to visiting Delaney’s again during the holidays when we are in the Madison area.

Delaney’s Steak and Seafood in Madison is a true gem! From the moment you walk in, the warm ambiance sets the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. The food is outstanding; the steaks are cooked to perfection, and the seafood is incredibly fresh and flavorful. The highlight, however, is their awesome cocktails—each one crafted with care and creativity. The service is impeccable; the staff is attentive and friendly, making you feel right at home. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a delightful meal!

Staff were awesome to talk to. Food was great. They make you feel like you are a friend or family member. Great experience. Benton was my bartender and we need to clone him.

I really wanted to love this place, but my experience was mixed. The steak was disappointing. The cut of meat itself seemed good quality, but it was cooked so heavily charred that the burnt flavor completely overpowered everything else. For a dish that should be a highlight, it missed the mark.
Service also fell short. We were given food menus, but no drink or wine list was offered. Our server returned to take our order without ever mentioning cocktails, beer, or wine, and we had to ask what was available. Considering wine is part of the restaurant’s name and branding, I expected the wine list to be presented upfront and featured more prominently.
On a positive note, our other entrée was absolutely delicious and very well prepared, which shows the kitchen is capable of great execution. Overall, while there were some bright spots, I would likely choose another restaurant if I were specifically craving a steak.

Love love LOVE this spot. The atmosphere was very warm and our server Peter was a delight right out the gate. I mentioned possibly upgrading a side to a steak dinner with the tomato bisque even if they have to add an upcharge. And Peter ironically said that he usually always mentions the tomato bisque. His demeanor was fun and playful but at the same time very professional. I love when I can find that in servers, and I should know, as I am one myself. 😉 The calamari was delicious and I liked having a choice of two sauces to dip it in. My 6oz filet was a perfect rare temperature,, but the real star of the show was my boyfriends Waygu steak. What a showstopping dish!! Melt in your mouth consistency like I’ve never had before. Oh yes and the seafood bisque was quite tasty. I would’ve liked to see more chunks of seafood in the soup but maybe that is not a characteristic of a bisque. All in all I would highly recommend this spot and tell you to ask for Peter. He made my special birthday dinner quite a remarkable occasion.
