This place was packed when we arrived. The cashier was not very friendly or helpful with suggestions, but I appreciated that the menu and sauce list had descriptions. We decided to split the Pork Bao Buns, the Chicken Fried Rice, and the Meatball Pho. There are plenty of seasonings, sauces and utensils available, along with 2 types of water, at the self serve bar along the main wall.
The food wasn’t extremely impressive, sadly, but it wasn’t bad by any means. The best item was the Pork Bao Sliders, they were delicious. The pork was tender and the buns were sweet and soft. The second best was the Chicken Fried Rice. It had that awesome browned flavor that STL is known for, but it was just a bit too greasy and salty to be fantastic. The worst item was the Meatball Pho. It wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t good compared to other Phos I’ve tried in the area.
Would we come back? Sure. Not tomorrow, not next week, but maybe sometime in the next few months. Nice remodel guys!
Food is served fast and everything is super fresh with bright Vietnamese flavors.
We had the chicken pho and vermicelli with coconut shrimp and grilled pork. Everything was so good! On a cold day the pho was fabulous. I really enjoyed the pork which was grilled perfectly and packed with flavor. Nice fried spring rolls too…
My only complaint is the music was really loud and it was hard to hear each other talking. Otherwise had a great experience!
There is nothing I could find wrong with this place. I’ve been sitting around looking for a reason not to give a full five-star review, but I just can’t come up with one. It’s really that good.
Food/Drink = ★★★★★ (5 stars)
Food was great, I would highly recommend the phō, and their pork spring rolls are a m a z i n g. Spicy food is clearly labeled, and nearly half the menu was completely customizable (everything else one could order without X or with extra Y, as would be expected). Drinks were also top-tier, my personal favorites being the fruit tea (with optional boba) and the lychee limeade.
All food was priced from around 8 to 20 dollars, and while some dishes may seem like a lot of money, there’s enough food in one bowl of noodles to feed three people, so it’s well worth the price.
Service = ★★★★★ (5 stars)
All the staff was nice to us, and nobody was impatient or intrusive when we ended up staying at our table for 15 minutes past closing. The person serving was very humorous and boosted our overall experience, hence the five stars. Unfortunately I cannot remember the name of our server, but please, DD Mau, give him a raise! (His name could’ve been Troy, Cloy, or something of the sort. He had black hair, and looked like he might be about 18 or 20.)
Atmosphere = ★★★★★ (5 stars)
I could tell this place’s decoration had been well thought out. There were couches and soft chairs in one area of the restaurant, and the whole place felt warm and very soulful. The bathrooms were exceptionally clean and the only wall left empty was made of bricks, which somehow made the whole place even more welcomimg.
They have their very own parking lot which is a huge improvement. The inside is light, lovely and spacious. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. They can easily accommodate larger groups of 8-10. There are a lot of tables, so you don’t have to worry about finding a seat.
Currently, there are comfy chairs by the front door so you can wait for your to-go order, or just drop by to sip some boba while you’re out shopping in the area.
I had the brisket PHO
It was OK I’ve had better. For just those two items $26 and something and I’ve had better for less so I don’t know what I’m paying for now but would I go back again? I would have to think about it.
The pho was fine, but the serving size leaves a lot to be desired considering the price. Overall this came off as middle of the road fast casual fair, but I will say the staff was super nice and welcoming. I would consider giving them another chance – from what I hear, this is a new location so maybe they are ironing out the kinks. I also have high standards when it comes to pho.
Service: what service? You order at the counter then go get your own utensils and water.
Atmosphere: it’s at least 85 degrees inside. So yeah, lots of atmosphere.
This place sucks.
