I haven’t been to this restaurant in over a year but hearing the place is under new ownership, I just had to give them another try and I couldnt be happier that I did. I understand that changes don’t happen over night, but experiencing the few changes that were noticeable, makes me excited to see what this place has in store for our little town. The taste of freshness was the first thing I noticed. Each roll we ordered had its own unique flavor and the ingredients were super fresh. The colors of the fish popped and made the sushi rolls look as appetizing as they tasted. The next major difference I noticed was the atmosphere. The staff, although super busy, were energetic and smiling. The energy in the place was was one that made you feel welcome when you walked in. If you haven’t been to Da Tuna Shack in the last week, I suggest you wipe your slate of the negative memories and walk in with fresh eyes. You’ll be glad you did! This place is back to being a restaurant that I have started, again, recommending to people that ask where I enjoy eating in town!

Recently visited, if you haven’t been in awhile, time to go again. We had a large group and most of the resturant was full, but instead of being asked to wait outside the chef, Ken, welcomed us in and reserved 3 tables for us for when the other groups left, While we enjoyed drinks around the table that was available and the bar. We felt like we were hanging out with him at his house, like guests, like friends. Great atmosphere!

This place is a cozy dinner destination. Very friendly and attentive staff. I can’t help but to buy the sushi chef and other cooks saki shots every time I’m there. Ken the owner and main sushi chef is generous and very kind. Even their breaded and fried pork chops are delicious. Way better than you’d expect at a sushi place. My favorite thing is that you can just ask Ken to surprise you with a roll (custom) and he knocks it outa the park every time.

Came here with family to eat sushi and left very disappointed. To explain how far away they are from having real sushi I will brig up one of their rolls which is a made with PLLED PORK. Most other sushi rolls are tempura. Their rolls are small and they use fake wasabi. We paid $50 for 3 rolls and a appetizer. It took a long time to get seated and get food after we ordered. This place is not focused on sushi as much as burgers sandwiches and other country food.

Above average sushi, especially considering its remote location. Sushi presentation shows lack of experience, but quality of the fish is consistently very good. Highly recommend Chuck Norris Roll, Debbie Roll, Hahana Roll.

I travel all the way from chula vista to eat sushi. Sushi deli does not come close to Da Tuna Shack . Try the down and dirty this is their signature roll. Not on the menue is the “saturday night roll” if you like octopus its a must try. Friendly staff sit at the bar best spot.

Came here for my birthday, it was the sushi chef Kens bday too. The man makes OUTSTANDING sushi and I’ve been all over San Diego for sushi! Our waitress was on point she was obviously the head waitress on top of every table nobody h ad to wait for anything, the young blonde busser guy was on top if all drink refills as well.

Great service, food and vibe. Highly recommend. With service being a constant problem in these small restraunts in Ramona. Tuna Shack has it figured out. Isaac, thier best server has a fantastic attitude that adds to the overall experience.

This is the second time in two weeks we’ve traveled 20 minutes to celebrate a special dinner, both times, including tonight they are closed. Scribbled note on the door mentioned closed for the weekend…but it’s Tuesday. Good food yes, but we’ll find another favorite.
