I was really expecting more from a place with so much history. I will give them the benefit of the doubt because we were there an hour before their closing time (which is 8pm according to google) but the only decent thing I ate was the ribs. The ribs and one piece of chicken were the only things left to order and they only had like 2 or 3 sides to offer. There were Flys all over the place and it wasn’t very clean. The ribs were decent but it’s not something I would drive a long way for.

Curtis BBQ is iconic and I so admire their tenacity …but I also miss Curtis. Also, when guys on harleys ask for no sauce or mild on the side, it caused the local insects to stop in midair out of disbelief. The chicken in my experience was better than some other recent reviews.

Curtis’s bbq is iconic but the food was just fair. Perhaps because it was close to closing. Chicken was very dry, ribs were ok, bbq was pretty vinegary. Potato salad and baked beans were amazing. Pulled pork was good. Ambience is fun and eclectic

If you want to experience BBQ the way it was intended, come to Curtis’s!! The ribs were ‘fall off the bone tender’ and the chicken was perfectly cooked. We fed a family of 3 with the Family Pig Out meal and took some home.

Great lunch stop off on any trip. We were looking for food and weren’t sure we’d find anything in the area. Luckily we timed that search perfectly. You can load up on some delicious ribs and all sorts of sides for cheap. Really tender, great vinegar based sauce too. Not sure all of it was all that fresh but on a nice day when you’re just looking for something quick, filling and tasty this is the spot. Load up and grab a park bench.

Great BBQ! Been there for 42 or so years. Worth the trip! Check the hours and days they are open before you go..

Yummy BBQ, for sure. There was even some live music. Other reviews led me to believe it was the best in the world. That’s a bit of a stretch, but it is darn good nonetheless. Definitely add the extra rib to any meal, it was oversized and delicious.

Curtis has been barbecuing for more than forty years, but his methods take perfectly good pork and make it flavorless. The place is charming and quaint with a very authentic feel, but as someone from the Southwest I’m shocked that anyone could call this BBQ the best they’ve ever had. BBQ gets its flavor from the slow cooking process and the addition of flavorful rubs or sauces, plus the extra smoke flavor that certain types of wood add. Curtis appears to put meat over his coals without adding anything to it and uses bland woods for fuel that add no flavor. The result is some of the most dried out pork I’ve ever tasted. Sometimes bad BBQ can be somewhat rescued by good sauce, but the vinegar-heavy ketchup-flavored sauce here doesn’t do the trick. If you find yourself here despite these warnings, I do recommend the fully loaded stuffed potato. You can’t beat a potato cooked over a fire pit, and the sour cream helps mask the dried out pork.
