Hidden Ramen shop CRANKING out super professional Ramen !! I love this place , the ramen is delicious. Small little shop literally in a bike shop but they have big flavor. I tried the beef shoyu which had tender beef short rib with fresh veggies and perfectly cooked egg and the special of the day coconut curry with shrimp. Both were amazing. Broth was flavorful. Matcha green tea was delicious too. I would have liked some more noodle but that’s just me being me. Friendly fast service , had a few stools to sit inside and a couple tables outside , nice for a quick noodle stop or take out spot. Will be back to try other items for sure.

Shoyu broth was very good, short ribs weren’t as tender as I’d like, as if they weren’t braised long enough. The noodles were not good….sad for what should be the star of a ramen dish. The noodles were thin, doughy, clumpy, almost as if they were raw. I enjoyed the broth and had toast for lunch instead.

Lip-smacking noodles nice chew. Beef was tender and sticky. Solf egg yolk mixed in extremely well. Finished the meal with a burnt buttermilk orange and vanilla twist cone. A+ would recommend for Ramen in Sussex

Great place, awesome food! I have eaten lunch at Cranky Noodle a couple times and It always exceeds expectations! Take in the vibe, relax after a good bike ride, and enjoy the ramen, ice cream or a double espresso.

As a local Asian-American I was super excited to hear that Sparta was finally adding a diverse food-option in town (our town is not known for having a variety of different types of eateries/restaurants to dine in) so we went here twice: first time for soft-serve vanilla & chocolate ice cream only as they were just opening up and didn’t have ramen yet. This second time we were so excited to try their fancy ramen bowls. Starting at $16 for the ramen selections we both purchased the beef ramen soup bowl which doesn’t include an extra $1 to add an egg. The beef was simply delicious and delicately-made and the broth tasted like truffle-oil… sautéed colorful peppers was well seasoned and the service was excellent. There is no air-conditioning inside so we sat outside the bike shop/noodle house and also enjoyed an “iced” miso latte which was had a great favor albeit not very cold- with ice cubes in it. Our bill came out to $40 which I expected because the ingredients used to make the dishes were very good quality and you could taste it. We really enjoyed our experience at Cranky Noodles & only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because it lacked a bit of authenticity and the price point was a bit high for what we received (3 items, for lunch). All-in-all I cannot wait to visit again & try more selections (including their cold appetizer dishes) from the menu!

I want so much to love this place and I hope my review can one day change to five stars. But I have tried Cranky Noodles 2 times and both times I have felt like I wasted $20 on a bowl of hardly mediocre noodles. I am REALLY stoked a ramen place is in town. But I struggle to even call it ramen. It lacks bold flavor and any authenticity. It’s extremely Americanized but maybe that’s the fusion-take that is being aimed for. My noodles today were so over cooked I could not eat them. They literally stuck to the container and I had to force the broth around because it sat on top from how overdone they were. The broth was very sour and is not the typical ‘miso’ ramen one would expect.. also a very small amount of broth is given. I was happy with how big of a portion the pork belly was, however there was no sear to it at all. I ate the pork and tossed the rest in the trash which is disappointing, I don’t like wasting food. The last experience I tried the short rib and found the broth to be very bland and hardly any given, short rib was not cooked enough (typically in traditional ramen the meat should be tender and pull apart, it was actually medium rare to my surprise and since I’m pregnant I couldn’t eat most of the center of the cuts) it was tough and needed a knife to make bite sized. Anyway. I hate to give a local business a negative review but I’m hopeful this can be taken as constructive feedback and I’ll be able to redo my review and say how amazing I found the next experience to be…. 🙂 I’m just bummed out that it’s lacking that true ramen vibe.

Meat was 90% fat, it was inedible. We VERY politely, and with no other customers in earshot, pointed it out to the person working there when she asked how our meal was. Who I assume was the manager or the owner was in earshot and made zero attempt to rectify the situation. I’m not one to complain but unfortunately that’s just poor business. We will not be back. Oh… and there was a hair in my food.

Super cool place, love the aesthetic and game cube! food was great and you can’t get anything like it around here. You can tell it’s a passion project and I love that. 10/10
