I recently visited a local seafood spot in Homewood with my boyfriend, and it was such a great experience! The place had good energy and a laid-back vibe that made it perfect for a casual date night. The seafood was absolutely delicious — everything was fresh and seasoned just right. The bartender Aireiu made the drinks and they were great too — the lemon drops were perfectly balanced, and the shots were reasonably priced, which is always a plus. Overall, this spot is definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for good food, local vibes, and a fun atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back!

We decided to check this place out after seeing it recommended by a local foodie who occasionally pops up in my feed. The restaurant looked clean and festive when we walked in, and the hostess was friendly even though she was on the phone taking an order.

We waited a little over five minutes while she finished the call before being acknowledged, and then were told to have a seat — someone would be with us shortly. A couple who came in after us had their order taken first, but once the staff realized the oversight, our server came right over — she was very nice.

We started with fried mushrooms, which came out quickly and were good — the dipping sauce had a surprising kick but worked. However, our seafood boil arrived before our second appetizer (the cheesy oysters), which felt rushed and disorganized.

The oysters had good flavor but were full of sand — if you don’t know how to clean oysters properly, please don’t serve them. My lobster boil was also missing items, and the crab legs portion was smaller than expected for a full pound. The boil flavor was underwhelming (they were out of lemon pepper). My husband’s drink was strong but not enjoyable.

We also had to request utensils — twice — once for me and again for my husband.

We didn’t dispute anything; it wasn’t worth the hassle. But for a $150 meal and an automatic 18% gratuity, I expected more attentive service and better execution. The staff was kind and polite, but the overall experience felt more like a startup operation than an established restaurant.

Unfortunately, our stomachs aren’t feeling great this morning — which makes the entire experience even more disappointing. We won’t be returning and can’t recommend this place at this time.

If you’re looking for perfectly seasoned, crispy seafood, Crab Bagz is the spot. I stopped in today and ordered the catfish and shrimp dinner with fries, and it did not disappoint.
Why it hit the mark:
• The Catfish: Fried to a golden perfection—flaky on the inside with just the right amount of crunch on the outside. No “fishy” taste here, just fresh flavor.
• The Shrimp: These weren’t those tiny, sad shrimps. They were plump, well-seasoned, and paired perfectly with the fish.
• The Fries: Let’s be real, the fries soak up all that seasoning and make the meal complete.
The portions are generous, the food comes out hot, and the flavors are consistently on point. Whether you’re a local or just passing through Homewood, do yourself a favor and grab a bag. I’ll definitely be back for more!

My friends and I (party of 4) went to Crab Bagz on a Saturday evening around 8pm. They had over head music which was playing RnB. It took awhile to get sitting so we requested to sit at the bar. Once we got to the bar, The bartender then informed us that we couldn’t eat at bar. So then we were directed to a table. It took about 15-20minutes to be greeted by Our waitress. But she seemed really busy. Waitress was super nice and helped us understand the menu. 2 ppl ordered crab bags, I didn’t taste their food but they said the favor was lacking (and hot is REALLY HOT). 1 person wanted catfish and dirty rice but they were out of dirty rice so she ordered plain white rice. I just order Appetizers oysters, garlic fries, and salmon bites. The salmon bites were really tasty. We all ordered Dragon lady. All together our bill was around $264 which also included a 18% gratuity. We were unable to split the check. I would come back just to try something else

Some women on tiktok giving false reviews… I went on a Sunday and man I was so disappointed. I got there at 5:30pm didn’t get seated till 7:30pm and didn’t get my food till 8:30pm…the staff seemed to be so distracted by everything, customers arguing with staff, people getting skipped in line it was very unprofessional. I got the garlic fries for $7 it tasted like nothing, no garlic or salt..I also got the fried green tomatoes those lacked flavor and they give you hot sauce which was unfitting for the meal. Lastly I got the shrimp boil…1/10 I wouldn’t go back and I wouldn’t recommend. I waited hours and was disappointed over priced let’s not talk about the 18% gratuity and not worth the wait.

My server was Kyah L. She was an excellent hostess.
The food was well prepared. Given in a timely manner. The restaurant and bathroom were clean. Employees were courteous to customers. Food portions were appropriate. I will return! Maybe every week.
I told the manager, I frequent restaurants with good service. I enjoyed Kyah L as my hostess.

Drove almost 2 hours after watching a reviewer say it was the best meal she had all year! And now I have to question all her reviews if that was the best she had all year! The food was nothing spectacular! Salmon bites were crunchy! The batter was seasoned but not the salmon itself! The crab sauce was bland! The snow crab legs were a good size! But ain’t no way the king crab was worth 150.00 a pound! And to make matters worse I only ate a little of my crabs because I like to crack them all open soaked them in the sauce with the corn, the rice and the potatoes so I tied my bag up went to go use the bathroom and wash my hands when I came back they threw my food away. So that just really added a fuel to the fire! The reason I’m giving them two stars is because my waitress she did try to resolve the issues. She did give us free shots for our wait and she happen to know what I drink. None of the things the girl reviewed were on the menu they didn’t have it. Now I feel like she was probably paid for the review and I said that once we got there! But the dancing crab for someones birthday was entertaining! But I think he was the cook and that bothered me! Big waste of time and money because it wasn’t cheap! Definitely not worth the drive! Don’t think I’ll go again!

Seated quickly however thats when the excitement ended.
The wait time took over 30 minutes and no one came to table to ask for drinks, appetizers or entrees.
Watched a few other tables leave before us as well.
Staffed seems unorganized not knowing what table is getting what or needs attention
So we left
Portions appeared small
Played good music while waiting.
