1. First time, I called the store to verify the Cheddar cheese option. They said they had it and to just add it to the “Special Instructions”. I did this & still got American cheese.
2. Second time, I figured it was a mistake. I call to place my order instead of doing it online. I got the Country Omelette with bacon and I asked for Cheddar substitution and for the gravy to be removed. I got home, and the omelette only had bacon & cheddar.
3. Third time, I ordered online. This time, I figured I should try something simple. I chose 2 grilled chicken sandwiches. So, on the app there is an option to purchase their sandwiches/burgers. It’s a lunch option that doesn’t start until after 10:30am. There is ALSO a BREAKFAST option to get a Grilled chicken biscuit. When you click on it, it asks if you’d like to substitute the biscuit for a bun, toast or Texas toast. I chose the bun. Door Dash tells me my order is ready. I go to the store to pick it up, the cashier informs and shows me that my order was refunded about 10 min prior. She proceeded to explain that the cooks just won’t do a bun, because that makes it a sandwich & that’s not until 10:30am. I thought that was the most ignorant cause for a refund. I should of just left then, but I was still hungry. I decided to order the steak and eggs with the home fries. I asked for it to be cooked medium. I should of checked the bag, but whenever I come to this restaurant, it’s usually after I work a 12hr overnight shift. I was just ready to go home (This is why I try to order ahead). I get home and behold, the steak is FRIED with batter.
The food isn’t bad but my order is never right. I haven’t been able to enjoy a single meal. I may go back, not sure, but I know I’m not moving from that counter until they give me what I paid and asked for. Always check before you leave this place.
We stopped in on our way to a music festival in Danville, VA. My friend wanted to stop because the name reminded him of an old South Park episode – I just wanted the local diner experience.
We were not disappointed. We stopped in am hour before close (2pm, I think), and were treated like Family. Our server was so wonderful, answering questions (Ex: What’s the difference between a pancake and a griddle cake? Answer: Their griddle cake is made from a grits patty, so it ends up with a slightly crispy outer layer texture and the almost silky interior of warm grits. I ordered it and it blew my freakin’ mind!), and when I told her this was my first experience with grits, she brought me a small bowl of buttery grits to try because theirs are so good. She Was RIGHT! Oh Mama, changed my life. I finally understand the obsession with grits!! I even mixed in a littler apple butter (which they just HAVE Sitting on the table!) toward the end, and my heart hurt a little when they were gone.
The sweet tea is a strong black tea, and the prices were great. We stayed full for 5 or 6 hours, even while rocking out in the Blue Ridge mountains.
Please come enjoy a meal here and keep this genuine gem open!!
