The atmosphere was awesome with live music, and the ambience truly set the tone for a great night out. The service was very good attentive without being aggressive, which I appreciated.
The food overall was good, but for the price point, I expected more. When you are paying $84 for an à la carte steak, you expect to receive exactly what you see in the showcase, not a cut version of it. The best they display should be what you get, especially at that level. That part was very disappointing.
The octopus itself was cooked perfectly and was excellent, but the chimichurri that accompanied it was not good at all and took away from the dish. The sides are definitely pricey, but if you go, the baked potato is absolutely worth it.
Overall, a beautiful setting and strong service, but the execution on certain items did not match the premium pricing.

This is a decent steakhouse… Friendly service and good atmosphere. A little high on price for the experience. Hosts or receptionist at the front were not what you would expect… We’re more like the greeting you would get at a Taco Bell than a steakhouse.

Unfortunately, I had high hopes for this location …this place is more reputation than an actual flavor. Normally at steakhouses I smell smoke from searing steaks on the grill, but unfortunately all you smell here is someone smoking about 1000 packs of cigarettes a minute in a casino. for the price of the charge in the amount of work, you have to do to get to the restaurant I would not ever eat here again.

Visited with a few friends recently and had excellent service from our waitress and her assistant. The atmosphere is great and everything thing says this is a great steakhouse, except for the steak. We all ordered steaks and we all said they were just ok. The filet was not a center cut or spiced well. For the price, the steak should have been better.
The wine list is vast, but no values on the main or reserve list. Try the list showing wines by the glass and order that bottle instead.

The steak, which was the highlight of our meal, arrived cold and lacking in seasoning, a disappointment given the establishment’s upscale reputation. Comparable quality can be found at more modestly priced establishments, such as Renzo’s and Meat Market, which raises questions about the value proposition here. One of the best steakhouses in Tampa. Oysters Rockefeller and pork belly also great. Located right in the casino so you can enjoy a whole night here. The lobby entrance is impressive with a view into their dry aging and butcher space. The left dining room has a view into the large kitchen, the right dining room has live music, and the bar is beautiful with many allocated whiskies to choose from…so different spaces to enjoy for multiple visits.

We have been here a few times and it’s always an excellent experience. The food and service are always outstanding. Our most recent visit was for our 10 year anniversary. We were able to sit near the kitchen which was fun to see all the action. I had the Oscar topped filet which was delicious. Highly recommend for any occasion.

We had a reservation for 7:45. Upon arrival at 7:40 they took us straight to our table. Our server was Matthew C. and he was AMAZING!!! He made jokes with us, helped us with the menu (as this was our first time dining here), and made the whole experience extremely enjoyable. We will 100% be coming back here to dine with him!!
We shared the bone-in ribeye (medium), and it was cooked perfectly. They even cut it in half for us. The garlic mashed potatos were out of this world, as was the lobster mac n cheese. The whole experience was wonderful and we cannot wait to come back!

The place is awesome. The food and service are always top notch. Mathew was a great waiter and provided great advice. I would always recommend visiting Council Oak if you have the opportunity.
