I used to eat here when I lived in Charlottesville nearly a decade ago, and I was pleased to find out that it was just as good as it used to be. The Santa Fe enchilada was exceptional…and, being a native New Mexican, I’m pretty picky! Yes, it’s busy and noisy, but that is part of the charm. Don’t let the line scare you. You can enjoy a marg while you wait and chances are you’ll run into a friend — or make a new one — before you get to your table.

Worth the wait you will inevitably have…best margaritas in town (also available while waiting)!! Don’t leave without getting the Red Hot Blues (nachos). The Divide always had a solid menu of staples and daily quesadilla. The Santa Fe enchiladas and the brisket tacos are always delicious.

Incredibly good food!! Maybe the best I have had. You have to go at certain times to avoid waiting forever (no reservations), but they handled it smoothly. The margaritas were a little too heavy on the mix, so were too sweet, but otherwise, great experience!

“TOO SMALL? TOO LOUD? TOO CROWDED? TOO BAD” is the motto at this long-time C’ville staple. A little irreverent and that’s the way we like it. The food is always great, service is spectacular, drinks are top notch. Just don’t go in there with an attitude or in a hurry. It will not be tolerated ’cause they gots plenty of biz without kowtowing to high maintenance patrons.

Some things have swiveled changed since the pandemic. Our margaritas were OK, but not as good as they used to be. The tuna tostada, which is our favorite in the menu, was lacking the usual flavor explosion in your mouth – the balance of goat cheese and honey habenero vs the tuna, beans, etc was way off. It was OK, but not what we came in for. Perhaps there was a big change in cooks & bartenders?

Food was great, the atmosphere was a bit noisy but not unexpected for a restaurant that size. I sat at the bar and the service was marginal. Suggest they turn-off or remove the TV as it was distracting the bartender from servicing his customers.

Best food. Best staff. Best vibes. Best location (they literally have a whole parking lot & they’re right off Main St – like hello). Best margaritas. Best motto: Too Small, Too Crowded, Too Loud, TOO BAD (probably should be the motto all cool small restaurants go by). Just all around best place in town (which makes sense they’ve been opened since 1994).

Veggie fajitas, nachos, carnitas, and margaritas were phenomenal. The entire staff (a small team) hustles and helps, from the hostess to the dishwasher. That everyone seemed to genuinely like working there – and each other – made our meal so much better. Thanks!

It was our first time at Continental Divide. Great little restaurant. Food and service were great. The space is small and noisy. Not a problem, just giving fair warning. Overall good experience.

Decent flavor but, poor preparation. The pork for the carnitas was very tough and not very warm. We sat by the serving window and saw the cooks frequently put food in the microwave, which was disappointing since the entrees were all at least $15
