A small mom and pops chinese restaurant — excellent authentic food. Don’t expect excellent service or polished vibes — my server was friendly but western-style wait staff training isn’t generally a priority for hole in the wall shops.

Asian server with a glasses got so much attitude.
Am I asking to eat for free?
I’m paying money but he acted like I’m begging for free.
Food was alright but service is shit.
I’d like to tell your server, if he don’t want to work then go somewhere else.

One of the rare few Chinese places that does breakfast. The waiter was really helpful and the food was delicious. I had the tea egg, which was the perfect amount of soft with lots of flavor, and tofu pudding that was like a comfort-food version of hot & sour soup (does not come with spice however so try it with a little chili oil). Next time I come here – and there will be a next time – it’ll be hard to resist ordering that again so I can try something new.

Ordered pork and cabbage dumplings on UberEats, probably won’t order again. Frozen dumplings from supermarket are better
$16 for 12 pieces, before tax, service fee, delivery fees, and tips

Good chinese breakfast for people who prefer a more northern style (like 豆腐脑). Very affordable. Spacious place. We come here quite often, but this review is for the waiter who served us this morning. He (which I forgot to ask for his name) who went above and beyond in providing his service. He was nice, attentive. For example, when I asked for a bowl lid to take out the soy milk, he not only packaged the bowl but also filled the bowl with more soy milk.

Too much white pepper and ginger in the century egg/lean pork congee. You could hardly taste anything else. It shouldn’t be this heavily seasoned, in my opinion.
Tea eggs were overcooked to the point where the yolk was gray and the flavor also wasn’t to my taste.
Glad I gave Northern Chinese flavors a try, but I think I’ll stick with my usual Cantonese places.

Extremely disappointing experience! I strongly advise against trying this place. The food is really bad, and it’s not worth your money.

What a surprise! This unassuming restaurant turned out to be a hidden jewel. I almost left as soon as I walked in, but thankfully I decided to stay. The food was fantastic; I even ordered a takeout after my eat-in meal. This place definitely reminded me of your typical popular hole-in-the-walls in China that are always crowded with locals in the morning with no tourists. Congee House’s menu is limited but its cooking turns out to be quite authentic. If you do appreciate a truly down-to-earth Shandong taste and you do find something you like there then this is the place for you. Otherwise, you don’t bother.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I received absolutely no service. Every time, we had to go pick up our food ourselves, while the table next to us had their meals served. The server just waved at us from the counter to get our attention. If there’s no service at all and the food is packed in to-go boxes, why would I bother dining in or tipping? It’s outrageous.

Fantastic food! Their 豆腐脑 (dòufunǎo) is genuinely one of the best I’ve had in the States. The service was attentive and friendly during our late lunch, though we were the only table at the time. I wholeheartedly recommend trying their signature 豆腐脑 (dòufunǎo), alongside the 油条 (yóutiáo) and 豆浆 (dòujiāng) – a classic and delicious combination. My only suggestion would be a preference for non-disposable bowls and cutlery, if possible.
