Recently visited Cobra, a Korean BBQ restaurant in Pittsburgh, and I had a mixed experience. The restaurant had a dark and clean ambiance that created a romantic atmosphere, perfect for a cozy evening.

This was my first time going to a Japanese BBQ restaurant. I am a vegetarian and was worried I was going to leave hungry but I was very full and satisfied by the end. I got the vegan Rangoon, mushrooms for the grill and broccoli as a side. The potatoes that were part of the banchan were so good! The waitress was very accommodating and instead of using wagyu fat on the grill we used an onion. My boyfriend loves seafood and had the lobster and the seared yellowfin tuna and said it was amazing! The lemonades were also refreshing. We will definitely be coming back!

We ordered the oysters, caviar, wagyu beef fried rice, and two of the omakase 2. I would save your money on the caviar which I think was overpriced and didn’t really fit the vibe, it was the same caviar presentation you’d see anywhere else. The oysters were really good and it was cool seeing their take on a mignonette and cocktail sauce, but whoever shucked the oysters wasn’t perfect and I found two bits in the oyster shells. The wagyu fried rice was extremely good and was a fairly generous portion. I would say that it was a good value, and it was nice having something additional to the meat and banchan to always have different flavors rotating around. The Omakase 2 was expensive, but I think was also a really good value and was the star of the show. There was a moderate amount of A5 wagyu, a significant amount of two other beef cuts, a marinated beef (galbi) that while tougher was one of the most flavor packed. It also came with several kinds of mushrooms and some spring onion that really get transformed by the grill. The trumpet mushrooms were one of my favorites. There were 5 banchan sides which I think were kimchi, a potato side, a bean sprout side, a spicy zucchini side, and a daikon side as well as a very good sauce. I do recommend dipping everything in either that sauce or soy and salting the meat as you prepare it. I don’t recommend only cooking one side of the meat as we were advised to try as even though I can appreciate carpaccio and tartare I found the texture on that to not be great.

Amazing experience! The food was so delicious, a bit pricy, but very worth it!

This is definitely a place to experience. The atmosphere is unique, haven’t been to a restraint like that anywhere in Pittsburgh. The food culture is a mix of Korean and Japanese. The food was awesome. This was my first time trying wagyu. Wasn’t overly impressed with it but I think that’s just me.

The food was good. I expected better quality for what we spent. The wagyu fried rice was phenomenal. Pricing is much more than whats noted on the menu on google but I assume they went up recently.

This was our first time and we absolutely loved it. From walking in to the vibe, to the drinks and finally THE FOOD. Yes be prepared to spend money but the food was high quality and delicious. Our server was awesome and helped us decide. We recommend the Omakse II. It gave us a nice spread for the whole table. They were very attentive to my gluten allergy. Well definitely be back to try the kitchen made food.

Cobra is nestled into a quiet area across from trace brewing. It’s an awesome spot for a nice dinner or a more rowdy night of karaoke – and if your group still has energy after singing your hearts out – they bring in a fun array of DJs for fun parties on the later side of the evening.

I’m going to be really honest, this place isn’t very good. As a long time Bay Area resident I was excited this had opened and between the pandemic and life I am just now making it. Guess I really wasn’t missing much. The food wasn’t that bad but it really wasn’t that good. The steak we got here wasn’t seasoned and lacked flavor. The mushrooms largely dried out on the grill. Other Korean BBQ places I’ve been to season their meat and vegetables, usually with a sauce or marinade. This was not that.
