Social Profile:

Clyde’s Drive-In at Sault Ste Marie, Michigan is where big boats, big burgers and big appetites all come together on the St. Mary’s River. Travel back in time as carhops take your orders. Enjoy the magnificent Great Lakes freighters as they signal a very loud ‘Hello’. For families, Clyde’s kid’s meals served in “classic cars” are a perfect complement to the nearby Rotary Island Park and their picnic and play area. Clyde’s has been a Soo destination since 1949 when Clyde VanDusen started the UP tradition and it continues with his family’s 75 years of ownership to this day. Seasonal restaurant from spring to fall.

Great burgers, I prefer over west pier. However the Saint Ignace location is much better. The malts are ok here, and onion rings a bit over cooked. But the star of the show Big C was amazing. A must stop when in town.

This was a nice experience of fresh cooked food. Everything is cooked to order. There might be a long wait for the food, but it’s more than worth it. I’m sure if no one is happy with this great place. They’ll go back to precooked food at McDonald’s. My family and I plan on coming back and we’re inviting family and friends to join us. Thanks for a great meal for supper.

Clyde’s is just one of those places you go to when you’re in the Soo! The nostalgia is really neat, it’s like taking a step back into the 1950’s. The service is friendly and efficient. It’s not the type of drive in where they put a tray on your window, but they do bring the food to your car. You can also eat at the picnic tables if you’d like. The food is about what you’d expect from a drive-in type establishment with generous portion sizes. I’d recommend at least coming here once during your visit to the Soo, even if for the nostalgia if nothing else! I got the famous Big C and enjoyed it. It’s also a bonus when you get to see a big freighter go by!

I absolutely love burger joints like this. Burgers so tasty you just HAVE to write a review.

I had a bacon cheeseburger, it was magnificent. I was a little disappointed they don’t have steak fries, but I got the onion rings and they were great.

I should also point out that I rode my motorcycle 500 miles to eat here, ate, turned around and went back. Granted I was looking for a good place to do a 1,000 mile ride, and I’m glad I rode to Clyde’s. It was perfection and I would do it all over again.

Best burger in the Soo.
Worth the wait. Cheese curds were pretty darn good, onion rings were good as well.
Don’t forget a chocolate shake.
Wished I would have done the 1-2 lb burger instead of the 1/4.
Watching freighters go by is cool.

Drive in restaurant with a dine-in. They come right up to you and you can order with them, very convenient. They also have outdoor seating for those who fancy it. For the menu you have your classics, cheeseburgers, baskets, sandwiches etc. The burgers were overcooked but better safe than sorry. Depending on the time it can take 30+ mins. The chili was good, you can see everything being made right near the window and they have one restroom in the back of the restaurant.

Clyde‘s Drive-In is a hidden gem, on the edge of Sault Ste. Marie.
We were welcomed by incredible friendly staff, that helped us to find and customize our favorite burger. While we were waiting for the food, the owner showed up and took the time for a little talk about the history of the restaurant.
The burgers were unbelievable tasty. For sure one of the best burgers I ever had.
Also the atmosphere of the restaurant is just great with so many details.
I would really like it, if there were more amazing restaurants like that around.
100% recommendation.
