Chain serving “big as yo’ face” burritos & other Tex-Mex dishes in kitschy, eclectic settings.

As a Texan who grew up going to Chuy’s as a child and hadn’t been in a while, my son and I stopped in for a small lunch after sampling another appetizer across the way. First, the service was perfectly adequate but it didn’t compare to our previous restaurant (Good Pour). Second, the appetizer sampler we shared was good but not great. The queso is not queso blanco enough and the other items were a bit bland. I do have to highlight the grilled-tasting chicken in the quesadilla. I’m not a chicken fan but even I thought it was flavorful. So… in short I don’t think this location quite lives up to the original but the overall experience was good but not great. The atmosphere, however, is fun!

We enjoyed a nice lunch at Chuys this weekend. We loved the thin chips. They came out warm, with just the right amount of salt, and went great with the jalapeño ranch and the salsa they serve with them. We ordered the Chicka chicka boom boom and the Shrimp tacos. Both were good. I didn’t give this 5 stars because I wasn’t wowed by the food, but honestly it was good just not great. The boom boom sauce for the chicka chicka was pretty spicy. The shrimp tacos were full of shrimp so much so I basically ate my taco with a fork and didn’t eat the flour tortilla, because it would have been super messy if I had. I really did like the shrimp, it was good just no wow factor for me. I did like it was served with fresh lime to squeeze on it. Our service was pretty good. She was attentive but not too much so which was good. I did have one issue where she brought me a refill for my sweet tea and it was unsweetened. If you are a sweet tea fan and you take a large sip of unsweetened expecting sweet you know how that is rough (iykyk)! The restaurant is clean and decor was fun. We will definitely return and try other food items. I already look forward to the thin chips again!

Absolutely amazing when we first walked, we stood at the entrance and just embraced the beauty and cleanliness! The smell was just amazing as well. We were greeted immediately so I didn’t get a chance to look around through the bar area but at a glance, I was highly impressed and I interested. The restaurant was clean and welcoming! The service was amazing and kind! I have already recommended this place to many and will continue to do so.

We had a fantastic experience at Chuey’s last Sunday around 3:30 PM! The service was excellent, with a very attentive and polite waitress. The food was fresh and served quickly, and the kids loved the surprise ice cream at the end. Prices were also very reasonable. We’ll definitely be back!

The salsa and jalapeño ranch were fantastic. Their chips are thin and crispy, and I personally love that because I fill up fast. The thicker the chips, the faster I fill up. Of course I could just skip the chips and dips all together, but they are too good to pass up!
For my meal, I got the chicken/steak combo fajitas and they were just okay for me. The steak was very chewy and did not have much flavor, so I wouldn’t recommend them if you’re not into ripping half your taco apart trying to take a bite into the steak and then chewing your food forever. The chicken was much better as far as tenderness goes, but it was still lacking flavor in my opinion. The beans and rice were brought in a bowl smooshed together and on top of one another which was okay with me, but some people have an aversion to things being mixed together, and I could see where this would be an issue for some. Their homemade tortillas are great! They are soft, light and fluffy, and they don’t fall apart on you. My husband got the Tex-Mex enchiladas and there were no complaints from him. We were never offered refills on our waters, we had to ask for napkins and she only brought us 2 which made it seem like they were trying to be skimpy with them for some reason, but you are serving salsa and tacos that drip everywhere! Napkins at the table would be nice or at least hand out more than one per person. I’m sure we could have asked for more, but we should not have to and we try to not be too needy. We also had 2 to-go boxes and 2 cups of jalapeño ranch that the server was so kind to bring me, but no bag to put them in. Those are just little things in the grand scheme of things, so other than those little things, our sever was fantastic!
Nice atmosphere. The decor is bright, colorful and fun! Interesting to look around at all of the different artwork and decor pieces. And of course they always have fun t-shirts up front by the hostess stand that you can buy as a souvenir.

Lackluster service. Lo.g wait for drink orders. Server wasn’t very attentive. We were seated right next to a large party who were very loud and obnoxious. The food would have been better had we not rushed to pick, as by that point we just wanted to get fed and get out. If I can say one thing positive, the decor was awesome.

First time here, had the salad with steak and it was delicious and a large portion. The chips and salsa were also very good, and a good level of spicy. Atmosphere was chill-just please change the music to match the mood of the restaurant! i don’t want to drink tequila and eat Mexican food while listening to elevator music.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon with the family, it was pretty busy but we were promptly seated. Ambiance was fine, had a relaxed atmosphere with a bit of chatter. No rush from the servers to flip tables which is nice. Server didn’t seem super attentive, would have been nice to see them more.
I ordered the Elvis Presley Memorial Combo, wife got the Tortilla Soup, kids got the chicken tenders and fries and the soft tacos. Food took about 40-45 minutes to come out which is pretty surprising for a Mexican restaurant. Food looked really good (I enjoyed the prrsentation on the Elvis combo), but honestly it was pretty bland. The enchiladas and taco really really needed the sauces that came with them. I ordered a side of Boom Boom sauce because I wanted to see if it was worth $2, was OK. I was happy to see that all of the meals came with rice and refried beans (so many places in Huntsville only come with one and then try and upset the other), but the refried beans looked really old and congealed. Wife thought the Tortilla Soup seemed very fresh The star of the show flavor wise was actually the kid’s chicken tenders. They were flavorful and moist and both the wife and I were impressed — usually kids chicken strips lack flavor and are super dry.
Value was decent. Kids meal includes a drink and desert (ice cream or push pop). Solid 3 stars.

“You walk into this place and it’s a fever dream of Americana. It’s loud, it’s neon, and it’s screaming ‘Hail to the king, baby’ from every corner of the room. The Elvis shrines are everywhere—a kitschy, shimmering temple to the ghost of Graceland. If you’re looking for a quiet, contemplative meal, you’re in the wrong zip code.
The service? It’s a well-oiled machine. My waitress was a pro—the kind of attentive soul who keeps the chips flowing and the drinks topped off before you even realize you’re thirsty. You have to respect that kind of hustle.
I dove into the chicken and cheese flautas—decent enough, crunchy, and did the job. The queso was a reliable, salty comfort. As someone who skips the cilantro, I found the menu easy enough to navigate, which isn’t always a given in this neighborhood.
But then, we get to the rice. Every story has a villain, and here, it was the side dish. It was gritty—the kind of texture that makes you wonder if it spent enough time in the pot—and it carried an off-putting flavor that didn’t quite belong on the plate.
It’s a ‘nice’ place, sure. It’s vibrant, it’s fun, and the staff are working their hearts out. But at the end of the day, while the King might live here, this specific brand of Tex-Mex just isn’t my cup of tea.”

I am so DISAPPOINTED in the flour tortillas. They were not the same. That’s the main reason my husband likes to go there. Our waitress was great, food was great as always. But those tortillas, ugh. Please change them back! We even purchased Chuy flour tortillas for our wedding and catered our daughters birthday with Chuys.
