I recently visited Chocolate Chalet in Briarcliff Manor and purchased a selection of almond barks in both milk and white chocolate. While I had high expectations given the shop’s inviting ambiance and charming setup, I was unfortunately disappointed with the quality of the chocolates themselves. Compared to other local chocolatiers and even national brands like Kilwins, which I’ve tried in various towns and states, the chocolate here fell noticeably short.
The almond barks lacked the rich, creamy flavor one would expect at this price point. Instead, the taste hinted at lower-quality ingredients or a less refined production process, leaving a waxy aftertaste rather than the smooth, indulgent finish typical of premium chocolates. Despite being priced similarly to other high-end chocolate shops, the experience just didn’t match up.
I’ve always appreciated chocolate shops that deliver not only on presentation but also on taste, and Chocolate Chalet, while aesthetically pleasing, didn’t provide the quality that justifies its premium pricing. For anyone seeking a memorable chocolate experience, I would suggest exploring other chocolatiers in the area or sticking to well-established brands known for their quality.

The staff was great, the chocolates were amazing and they actually gave us a few extra for free. I highly recommend this place

Amazing and absolutely beautiful chocolates with an incredibly large selection (even jalapeño chocolates!) A great local place in Westchester that more people should know about. Will definitely be back for more treats 🙂

Unfortunately, management has changed and several items have new recipes or are sourced from lower-quality suppliers. If you were here a couple of years ago, do not return expecting the same quality of chocolatiership. Many chocolates are now made with major alterations to their recipes which are not industry standard and which severely negatively impact the taste, perhaps none moreso than the maple creams, which are now utterly disgusting. Considering they were the major draw to this establishment for me, along with prices failing to drop in proportion to the sharp decline in quality, as well as the significantly less friendly and more cold new owners…there isn’t really a reason to consider shopping here, sad to say. The fruit creams are significantly less flavorful and cheaper tasting as well, but the maple creams in particular taste SO off, that I suspect they might actually be illegally labelled as maple due to the state of new york having stricter labelling requirements than most of the rest of the country about maple products…

Love this little Mom & Pop chocolate shop! So many great items in a convenient location, just a quick hop off Route 9 and right back on. Love stopping here for a treat anytime! Chocolate covered pretzels are my fave quick treat, but the owner has so many amazing options. Even special seasonal items! Really worth stopping and checking it out!

This used to be my goto place when John ran it. It’s since gotten new ownership and the chocolate bark which used to be my favorite just isnt the same anymore. I’m not sure why or what changed. I used to gift this chocolate to all my friends and even send internationally. Sadly now I’m removing it from my list of places to visit.

Didn’t have a chance to try out the chocolates because of the poor sanitary practices. The woman who was serving the person in front of me was handling/grabbing all the chocolates with her bare hands, and pressing them into place in the box with her fingers (not even using a piece of wax/tissue paper) I guess people must not mind too much because of the good reviews, but I was rather disgusted, and left without buying anything. If I have to wear a mask just to walk into the shop, the staff should have to wear gloves when handling people’s food. Very disappointed.

Wow what a smell when you walk in there – nothing more fabulous than the smell of fresh chocolate.
The staff is helpful, funny and really keeps you interested in the product, by explaining every nuance to you. How about Joseph himself? Well he is a doll.
Enjoy your holiday chocolates or any time of year gift chocolates from Josephs in Chocolate Chalet.

I’d rate it 10 stars if I could. An AMAZING mom&pop local business. Oh, and BTW – Their product is WAY better then garbage like Godiva, Lindt, etc. This is HOMEMADE real deal Chocolate. I STRENUOUSLY recommend the RED VELVET CAKE POPS, as well as the Dark Chocolate Cherries and the Champagne and Creme Brulee Truffles! This place ALWAYS helps you get the girl…or win your ladies heart and appreciation.
