Such an incredible experience! The sushi was unbelievably fresh, delicious, and insane flavors and the whole atmosphere felt so personal and welcoming. Watching the chef work his magic right in front of us was truly a show, equal parts art and entertainment. Along with the best host EJ 10/10, can’t wait to come back and I haven’t stoped raving to everyone about the experience.

Chobap in Victoria is truly something special. I joined a group of friends for a special chef’s menu tasting session. Mind you, I rarely eat seafood and shellfish, yet this curated culinary journey completely changed my perspective and took me out of my comfort zone. I’m so glad to have tried something new. The sake pairings were a fantastic touch. I absolutely loved the surprise macaroon to finish the night.

Every course felt intentional, fresh, and artfully presented, making the entire evening feel like a thoughtful exploration rather than just a meal. The space itself is intimate and inviting, perfect for a date night or a cozy bestie night, and ideal for anyone who wants a memorable experience while spending time in Victoria.

What made it even more exceptional was having EJ and Chef Clarke guide us through each step of the evening. Their knowledge, warmth, and passion elevated the experience and made us feel genuinely welcomed. If you are in Victoria and want something meaningful, unique, and beautifully crafted, Chobap is absolutely worth your time. I am looking forward to visiting in the future.

The meal was incredible, the service top notch! Having spent a month in Japan over summer, I missed the food so much. Tonight, I felt as though I was back in Osaka in one of the lovely, intimate restaurant gems hidden away along an unassuming, quiet street.

Everything was amazing, even the miso soup was so delicious, better than any I have had in Canada.
The chef is clearly in his element and somehow makes every dish seem effortless in the best way.

This wasn’t just a meal, it was an experience.

Back in October 2025 my son and I had an amazing time celebrating our birthdays while visiting Victoria.

I had been to Chobap previously and had had an amazing experience. I’d shared this with my 10 year old who knew we would be visiting the west coast in the autumn.

My son lovvvvvvveeeessss cooking, sushi, Korea and Japan. When we were preparing for my work trip I asked him what he wanted to do the most (he was going to get to tag along). Chobap was the first thing out of his mouth!

Chef Clark is an amazing Chef. Chobap was the perfect place to take my son!

Chef Clark and our hostess went out of their way to inspire my son and to showcase their skills and amazing flavour combinations. There is so much love and attention in every detail
Of the experience. For months afterwards he told everyone about. ❤️

We are heading to Japan and Korea later in the spring. Chef Clark has set the bar high! We will be be eating our way across both countries, working on our sushi rice technique, learning about fish selection differences between Korean and Japanese fish preparation, and working on our knife skills.

My son loves the idea of apprenticing some day! . Who knows what the future holds. Thank you to the Chobap team for inspiring my young man and for the amazing meal. We look forward to visiting again.

Loved our experience here. The food was incredible. Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had. Watching the chef make the sushi right in front of us was so cool. He is an artist. The service was very attentive and welcoming. Overall, we had a great night. Thank you!

My wife and I traveled from Vancouver to Victoria to celebrate her birthday with omakase at Chobap Sushi Bar, and it was absolutely worth the journey.

From start to finish, Chef Clark and the hostess – EJ delivered a masterfully curated meal that felt personal, thoughtful, and beautifully paced.

Every piece of sushi showcased the quality of the ingredients and the chef’s precision. The buttery saba, A5 Wagyu, and rich uni were standouts, but what really elevated each bite was their house-made soy sauce—deep, umami-rich, and perfectly balanced with a hint of ponzu. It enhanced the fish without overpowering it.

The space itself is intimate and minimal, with just enough warmth to make it feel welcoming. EJ were kind and attentive, and they even made a subtle, thoughtful gesture for my wife’s birthday, which we both appreciated.

Will come back for more on our next visit to Victoria.

The BEST RESTAURANT IN VICTORIA by far. We’ve been multiple times since this wonderful couple opened Chobap last year. Go for the 10 course tasting menu. And do the sake pairing. This wee restaurant is an experience, from watching Chef Clark skillfully work to tasting the food and your mind being blown. Phenomenal. EJ, his partner, is a wonderful host, who carries the service with her attentiveness and wit.
We took my partners Da recently for a birthday celebration, he’s a tough crowd usually and NEVER rates anything a 10… Well, you guessed it, 10/10. He couldn’t stop talking about the food for the rest of his trip. We should have booked Chobap every night.
It’s Omakase! You don’t get to choose

Very good. My favourites were the tuna toro and wagyu (predictably, as I love fatty meat), but the sesame sauce was also delicious. The sablefish was quite nice too. I thought the monkfish liver was just ok, as it didn’t taste like much (I’ve had both better and worse before – at least it wasn’t fishy). I’m starting to think raw scallops aren’t my thing. The hand roll was fun (they used gamtae! very cool to see the Korean influence), but was also a bit unfocused to me? It felt like too many ingredients thrown together.

I’m not sure why the dessert was a tiny blue macaron (seems thematically incongruous) but I did think it was incredibly funny when they put a candle in it for someone else whose birthday it was! The macaron itself was fine, but nothing special, but then again the macarons here never are.
