Our signature burgers, gourmet 1/4 pound hotdogs, garlic parmesan fries and our 16 oz blended shakes are the talk of the town. We offer weekly specials, like BBQ Sundays, the Cookie Monster Milkshake, Philly Cheesesteaks, and more! Homemade biscuits and sausage gravy served all! We are open seasonally from May 20th to September 15th.

The reindeer, pork and rice stew is not a menu item, it’s hearty and tasty for anyone who wants more food; $28. As a starving fisherman, it was well worth it after my 16 hour fishing trip. This is the best food between Glenallen and McCarthy. Beautiful part of the world. All food in rural Alaska is priced above average, and this was too, as expected.

Passing through and stopped to see what all the fuss was about. My Hawaiian Burger was amazing. Never had one before but bacon jalapeño grilled pineapple on real beef with secret sauce made my day. My hubby had the massive hotdog and I also hade a shake. Enjoyed the service the food truck/ picnic vibe and well the food was truly one of the best burgers in Alaska.

Stopped here for lunch on the way to McCarthy/Kennicott Mine. Food was as just as everyone said, fantastic. I had the dirty potatoes (tater tots) and my wife had the chicken quesadillas Our friends had the grub burger, again they said it was awesome. We enjoyed it so much, we stopped for lunch on our way back to Valdez. Had the Mt Wrangell burger, I think this is the best burger in all of Alaska. #bestburgerinalaska

Chitina Grubstake is a great little burger/hotdog shack! It just opened, but I was impressed with speed of service and quantity of food. Their hot dogs were great! If you find yourself in Chitina, you don’t want to miss it.

First of all the atmosphere is amazing! The food truck is right beside the Chitina Wayside with the most gorgeous views.
OK but the food is even better than the view! My husband had the Grub Burger which he said was the best cheeseburger he has had in Alaska. It was hand pattied and cooked perfectly. I had the BBQ Sundae which was beyond awesome. I can tell you I come from South Carolina so I know barbecue. It was tender and sweet and juicy and layered on top of creamy hot macaroni and cheese. I could not finish it as the portion was so generous.
We both highly recommend stopping here if you are lucky enough to be in Chitina!

The food was excellent, particularly given the location. But it is a small wait so perhaps not ideal for larger groups. It’s essentially a food truck so one person doing the ordering, cooking and serving.

Absolutely incredible food. You wouldn’t expect A+ food in such a remote area but this really blew me away. Probably the best food I had in Alaska.
Also the portion sizes are ENORMOUS. Definitely not gonna need to eat again today.
