Went to this Chipotle at 9:40pm on Monday, the last day of the deal to use points. They close at 11pm.
I have the gene that causes cilantro to taste like soap. Therefore, I always ask to get plain white rice.
As I arrived, what was clearly the manager on duty was cutting foil. She said someone would be with me in a moment. When no one else appeared, she reluctantly helped me.
I asked for plain white rice. She immediately said she didn’t have any. As I looked into the kitchen, I saw the cook meandering to the rice pan. Digging white rice out of the pan into a mixing bowl. I asked her what about that rice, before he mixes all of it? There was enough for several bowls, but I got mine, so we were good. I asked for black beans and pinto beans.
Next was Chicken. To which she lifted the lid where chicken normally goes to see there was no pan there. Her response was they didn’t have chicken. Again, never asking anyone or checking. I could have barbacoa, the new steak or carnitas. I looked at the carnitas, while I do like them, they didn’t look appealing. I asked if they could cook any. She said this is what we have. I then said you are out of chicken over an hour before you close? She said we try to run out of everything. I then looked up and down the line considering getting the carnitas, when I noticed a full pan of chicken without a lid on it sitting from my perspective in front of the rices.
I asked, what about that chicken? Her response was she doesn’t normally work on the line. I could tell, believe me.
Then we proceeded to complete the order, with her obviously unhappy to wait on me any longer.
I get my stuff an try and sit in the tables in front of the soda machine in order to try and enjoy my food despite the awful and upsetting service.
Then the person sweeping the lobby tells me that she is getting ready to clean there. I look at her incredulously. She then repeats that she is getting ready to clean there. I ask her where I can sit and she points to the hightops and the window bar.
I express my discuss and eat and then to immediately write this review. I am not shocked that there are almost as many 1 star reviews as there are 5 star reviews of this place.
I was one of the first 500 managers at Chipotle, running the #7 store in the country. I would have quit, right after firing each of the employees, if I was so poor at managing that my crew thought this was remotely reasonable. It is embarrassing to me that within a week I have had such poor experiences at three different Chipotles. Clearly this is a systematic problem in the central Florida area that should be brought to someone in charge. Not the store managers or the area managers that let it happen, but thier bosses that either don’t care or are also willing to allow it.
There used to be standards…
