I’ve been coming to China Buffet in Lowell for years and have always enjoyed it. The food is consistently good, and while the service can feel rushed with servers frequently checking if you’re all set, it’s never bothered me since I’m used to it.

However, during my most recent visit, I witnessed something that really changed how I feel about eating here. One of the employees who restocks the buffet accidentally dropped a piece of salmon fillet onto the hard counter area where the trays are set. She struggled to pick it up using the same serving spoon she was using to restock the tray. After the fillet slid across the counter, she eventually picked it up and placed it into the tray she was carrying so I assumed she was going to discard it. Unfortunately, she ended up mixing it back into the tray for customers to eat.

I know things happen, and I’m sure this isn’t the first or last time mistakes like this occur, but seeing it happen firsthand was unsettling. It’s unsanitary to serve food that’s touched the counter, which sees constant exposure to germs.

On top of that, the same employee was earlier stocking food at another buffet line while wearing gloves, but she picked up her phone and continued stocking food without changing them.

The food was, as always, pretty good, but after witnessing these practices, I’m not sure I’ll be returning.

Food didn’t taste like much. There weren’t many selections when it came to sushi, same ingredients were recycled. A tip for the waitress – a please, thank you and excuse me goes a long way. There were ice cream flavors that they dumped on top of others. Food was cold and wasn’t worth the price. On a positive note, the wings were good!

Amazing fresh buffet!! Can’t say enough about this hidden gem in Lowell. You may have to work to find it – tucked into the back of a shopping center, but it’s well worth the effort!

Food is amazing. Absolutely delicious. This is not your run of the mill buffet. There are plentiful choices, all fresh and tasty. Nicely presented. Friendly staff!

Fruit is fresh and the best, melons dark and rich. Chocolate cake looks and tastes great. Sushi bar all fresh and well-decorated.

I’ve been trying to cut back lately – but couldn’t here. Had to try everything and it was so, so good. If you like Chinese food and buffets are ok with you, you will love this place. Our new go to, what took us so long?!

Hope I didn’t over-use the word fresh, but it’s true. You leave feeling great!

This Chinese buffet is fully stocked with a lot of fresh food. It has a full sushi bar. The temperature is kept lukewarm solar foods stay fresh longer. Lunch is only around $17 total with 15% tip automatically added into it

Old restaurant in a small strip mall area in Lowell. Place looks a bit antiquated and needs a renovation.

There’s ~4-5 tables of buffet food. It was lunch time so the food was hot and food turnover was good. But the sushi was somewhat cold and very limited, no raw sushi.

The food is typical of a buffet place, serving the needs of the local community so nothing fancy or exotic. The taste is OK.

Not advertised were the prices, excluding taxes, upon asking the cashier:
Weekday lunch $12.95
Weeknight dinner $17.95

Be careful as the receipt includes a 15% tip, which should be optional especially for a buffet place.
It’s not proper to just include the tip as some people will complain about that!
Should tell the cashier to tell the owner to remove that mandatory tip on the receipt.

There is another similarly name place in Methuen.

Great food, Great Variety. Better bring cash though. Card was charged extra even though receipts matched. They brushed it off as a bank issue. Never had a problem with the card elsewhere. Edit- they changed the amount charged to its receipt price 2 days after.

This is a nice place for a good china buffet. It always has large varieties in buffet. Vegetarian options are good too.
Loved their hot n sour soups and seafood soup.
Deep Fish fry and sushi varieties are awesome.
Rice was a bit grainy, could have cooked well.
Desserts are good. Kids enjoyed their lunch here.

Hot and sour soup here is amazing. Everything else is your typical and not like how it used to be pre COVID. Not much for sushi option but I wouldn’t eat sushi at a Chinese buffet anyways. Food not fresh but room temperature. I would suggest here if you are okay with average food and your typical

We were seated right in front of the buffet, the entire time the employees standing there just looking at us. Very uncomfortable feeling. It would be worth not stationing directly in front of patrons eating. The food was just not good. We frequent buffets and this has to be one of the worst food wise. Dumplings edges were hard from being old. Lo mein and fried rice were all but flavorless. A lot of the food was cold. I can’t explain why but I physically felt grossed out the entire time. I’m guessing due to the hot food being cold. Both my plates were left with a lot of the food I picked out. I couldn’t stomach it. Nobody else in my family could either. Even the dessert cakes were off. One of them were so so dry and hard. It cost almost $150 for 3 adults and two 11 year olds. Absolute waste of money.
