Great brunch spot! Huge selection on the menu – from flavored pancakes, to burgers, tacos, and more. Amazing option for gluten free waffles and pancakes – I can’t wait to go back and try them! The gluten free upcharge is minimal compared to other places. My shrimp and grits had great flavor. The server was very friendly and was considerate with accommodating a gluten free order. Highly recommend!

Childers Eatery-War Memorial is a spectacular breakfast restaurant that serves excellent breakfast options like Biscuits and Gravy, Eggs, Hash Browns, and wheat toast with a twist. Overall, the Childers Eatery staff is phenomenal in meeting customer needs from start to finish!

Our food was delicious. Our waitress was Tahlya and she was so attentive and genuinely kind from the moment we sat down. She anticipated what we needed, made us feel welcome and elevated our entire dining experience. Her positive attitude, kindness and professionalism definitely stood out and we hope you will share our thanks with her.
We hope many others will get to enjoy Childer’s food and her outstanding service.

Really disappointed in this location. Today we decided to order curbside pick up for lunch. Once I arrived I parked in the spot and let them know I was there. They asked me to move to the front door so they can bring my food out, which I found odd since it puts you into sitting in the middle of the 3 way intersection. Once the girl brought my food out I told her this seems to be a stupid place to have the curbside pull up due to the traffic and she gave me an attitude of course. Got home realized I was missing items from my order (why wouldn’t I be right? ) so I called and spoke with the manager, Diane who was rushing me off the phone and interrupting me the entire time as if my call wasn’t worth her time and then she decided to hang up on me when I was mid sentence. So I called back and finished my conversation and told her I truly hope it isn’t such common practice for them to be so rude to their paying customers. Such a shame to have good food with such poor customer service.

Idk how anyone could be unhappy here. The best food we’ve had in a long time. The drinks were also great! We came two days in a row.
Day 1 we sat at the bar for morning bloody Marys and a cocktail coffee before we had a wedding to attend. Our bartender said as great. Id say the only disappointing thing that day was another waitress had taken our order and after only one drink, that wasn’t finished brought us out check. We had to specify we were there to relax and drink (we were at the bar) and that we weren’t yet finished, she seemed a little less than thrilled. But otherwise really great.
Day 2 came for breakfast and sat at a booth. Had some great hot tea and another bloody Mary. The shrimp and grits were absolutely amazing! I’m so sad we live over 2 hours away, otherwise this would be our favorite place every weekend.
To the staff. U are each so kind and seem to really love your jobs and that refreshing so keep up the great work.

Ok food. Mediocre service. I call that *The Peoria Special*.
Waitress did not know the difference between vegan and vegetarian (very important for some people), and did not know what the markings in the menu meant (hint: V stand for vegetarian, not vegan as the waitress thought).
When I had to question her about this and make sure she understood bc she made an obvious error about the menu markings, she started throwing the big attitude and kept with it. Honestly just garbage. Apparently this passes for ok here. I should have simply left, but was hosting a friend for lunch.
Don’t you just love paying to manage and train staff for a business because they are too lazy or inept to do it themselves?
Welcome to Peoria! “The Peoria Special”.

It was my first time eating at Childers Eatery, I had heard about them on the radio so I wanted to go and check it out. My son and I went on a lunch date on Friday afternoon, when we walked in it was a little quiet we were actually wondering if they were open. Someone approached us ask us if we would like a booth or a table and we chose a booth. There were two other families in the restaurant. I do like how the area was nice and open and the waitress was very friendly! The menu seemed a little bit small but my son and I both decided to get the chicken and waffles, I was impressed that it came with bacon usually you don’t see that in other restaurants. We both decided to add a side of eggs to our meals. Of course it was more food than we could eat but it tasted fantastic especially the chicken! We will be returning!

My son and I came in while shopping. It was busy but not full. We both ordered the Smoked Gouda Shoe. While we ordered, we mentioned our desire for an appetizer. Our server so wonderfully suggested the Bacon Wrapped Gouda. It was piping hot when we got it, and came with 2 dipping sauces. Tip: use both. The plates came and they were so so good!!! I’m always pleased when I come in here! Tip plenty and tip in cash!!!

Apparently, reservations mean nothing here. They took a reservation for 11 people days before and acknowledged the reservation at check in, only for another employee to offer that “we aren’t supposed to take reservations on weekends.” Then they did not honor the reservation and told us to just sot and wait. Total joke.
