I was pleasantly surprised as a Mexican ♀️person and from the DMV area. The sopes were so delicious. They’re definitely very modern, but tasted so good. My Mexican mom can’t even make this. My partner got the Tlayuda, which was so good. I got two tongue tacos, and one shrimp taco and I love both of them, but the shrimp one was the best. I also got a side of beans and rice. Overall would come back here.

The service was absolutely fantastic. The food was ok. The brussel sprouts and passion fruit flan were really good, but I did not care for my quesadilla. My friend liked her shrimp tacos, but she thought they were a little spicy.

Chicatana is INSANELY good. We didn’t have any expectations coming here and were totally blown away by the quality of the food. Enmole was delicious. Creamy, spicy, not too bitter, and incredibly flavorful. The passion fruit flan is a must get as well!

My girlfriend and I have now been twice and I don’t know that we’ll go anywhere else. The guacamole is the best- fresh with cilantro and chili oil and salsa matcha. We also had sopes de pulpo, al pastor taco, carne asada taco, camaron al diablo taco, duck hurrache, and langosta taco- every bite was absolutely delicious. The pulpo fresh and cooked perfectly, the steak perfect MR-M, the shrimp were the perfect texture, and as someone who eats a lot of duck I can honestly say it’s up there with some of the best I’ve had.
Antonio one of the owners was kind and generous and a pleasure to meet. Makes a mean spicy mezcal margarita too. We look forward to many more nights at Chicatana.

The food was pretty good, but I was underwhelmed. The rice side with the enmoladas was not cooked well. The service was pretty good and the overall atmosphere was alright. I was very excited to try Chicatana, and I still think it was worth the try, despite my slight disappointment… Maybe I caught it on an off day. I think I will be back, but I am not rushing to be back.

This place is a true jewel in the DC culinary scene! From the moment we stepped inside, we knew we were in for something special. The tacos here are on another level, thanks to the delicious homemade tortillas and incredibly fresh ingredients. The servers were also fantastic, offering excellent recommendations that didn’t disappoint. Their cocktail menu is intriguing and everything we tried was delicious. However, the real standouts were the adventurous and surprisingly delightful chapulines tacos and the unique buñuelo with ants. If you’re looking for authentic flavors and a memorable dining experience, this is a must-visit!

my waiter that day recommended me a lot of options in the menu and I picked out some from his recommendations and it did not disappoint I tried the spicy passion fruit and the Al pastor margarita where the best margaritas I’ve ever tried in the DMV and for starters I was recommended the flautas de pollo and they were incredible and I definitely recommend it. And then the tacos where very good you have a good selection of protein for the taco I really loved the specialty Al pastor taco and the barbacoa where my favorites and if I were to eat taco in the DMV it would most definitely be chicatana 10/10

The best taco restaurant I have tried in the DMV area. Everything was very delicious and I am looking forward to trying the other items.
Grilled shrimp was very good. I would get it medium though.
