Celebrating 39 Years! Australia’s Longest-Running French Restaurant with Same Chef/Owner Since 1986, Chef Philippe Lebreux has been at the stove every single service—39 consecutive years in the same kitchen. In today’s restaurant world, this kind of dedication is almost unheard of. Trained at Paris’s prestigious L’ ECOLE FERRANDI and mentored by three-Michelin-starred legend Paul Bocuse, Philippe brought authentic French technique to Sans Souci and never left. Featured on Channel 7’s The Hot Plate and SBS’s Food Safari. Classic French cuisine: five-hour braised ox cheek, cassoulet, French onion soup, escargots, Crêpes Normandy. 39 years. One chef. One kitchen. One vision.

Traditional French dishes in an elegant dining room with a BYOB policy & a convivial vibe.

Quality of food exceeded our expectations, Chef Phillipe spent time chatting and getting to know us over fun facts and jokes.

Staff was also polite. Highly recommend the Foi Gras. I have been to other French restaurants but this feels very authentic. Reasonably priced for an anniversary date.

I visited this place based on a friend’s recommendation. I prefer local restaurants over touristy ones, and this was exactly what I was looking for. It felt like a hidden gem that only those in the know would visit.

It was my first time trying classic French cuisine. I had only heard about fusion dishes before, but I wanted to experience authentic French food, and the menu was just perfect. The daily selections were written on a chalkboard, including starters, main courses, and desserts.

The chef was incredibly cheerful and friendly. I wanted to try everything on the menu! If you’re looking for authentic French cuisine rather than mainstream dishes, I highly recommend this place!

The food was incredible, and the tiny, cozy interior had that perfect “local gem” feeling — simple but full of charm.
There was a little seat tucked away in the corner…
One day, I’d love to sit there with someone special, sharing a quiet meal.

Me and my friends had dinner in this hidden gem in the area. Food is on point and service is excellent. Special thanks to Diana and of course, the chef and owner. Our experience has been an excellent and memorable one! I highly recommend this French restaurant!

You know when you go out for a meal and you walk away dissatisfied because you could have cooked the same if not better at home? Well, this is not this place!

The food here is next level! Every mouthful was a joy. The photos don’t do it justice! The sauces, the flavours, everything was just delicious, as usual!

The service was lovely and attentive and the restaurant itself is so cosy.

If you are after proper authentic French food, look no further.

And yea, you’ve counted right, we had 3 desserts between 2 of us

Someone Phillipe !! We were all looking forward to our return as a family to Chez Pascal but honestly it was such a disappointment. Food was hit and miss all night, something tasted off and flavours were all wrong – my meal didn’t last long I was vomiting by the time I got Home -add to that Chef Phillipe was ruder and more arrogant than ever, choosing to belittle a family member about sending back an order – (at $52 think he had the right when it arrived blue not medium or Even rare) on that Chef had supposedly coming out to “wish” the lads mum a Happy Bday giving the impression they were Giving a free bday cake when actually it was a candle shoved in her husbands ordered dessert. This night got even more “cray cray” when chef was addressed privately about his decision to belittle and embarrass a patron, but the maître decided to bring this conversation into the restaurant throwing a receipt, raising her voice and loosing all sense of professionalism- yelling at us all to get out Honestly shocked us all as we didn’t know what had been said but soon found her wrath turned to spiteful comments and a full blown tanty – anyhow we paid, (Why I don’t know now as I alone sent 2 from 3 courses back to kitchen hardly touched)
we tried to Enjoy ( as this was a favourite of our fathers RIP dad ) but ultimately when his meals where looking like a cat had spewed it up and tasted Like something had gone off and we were treated like trash we won’t be back and I hope this review keeps others safe !!

Everything about this restaurant is superb – the authentically-French cuisine, the friendly and responsive service, the rich ambience! We were celebrating my husband’s birthday and it is a rare achievement when everyone feels they ordered well for every course. There was not one entree, main and dessert dish we ordered that wasn’t exquisitely delicious. The chef, Philippe, even emerged with my husband’s dessert, singing a booming rendition of happy birthday which nearly knocked me off my chair! I strongly recommend booking your next dining out experience at Chez Pascal – you won’t regret it.

We love tthis place, it’s a local institution serving up old school French cuisine with charm and character. French Onion Soup, Escargot, Foie Gras plus the usual steak, chicken, fish mains…all “C’est Magnifique”. Chef Phillip often makes appearances from the kitchen to welcome and chat with his clientele, bringing warmth and many smiles. Great for special occasions or just a nice dinner out.

Went on a whim after a hard week and had the best dining experience. It’s been a while since I’ve seen venison and frogs legs on the menu at French restaurant and I have been to quite a few so rhey were must orders for me. The food was divine but it was Philippe the chef that really made my night. An absolutely heart-warming place to dine and with a cosy familial feel. A new regular for sure.
