My first observation was the chips are from a box. Salsa likely from a can. Could improvement those easily. Food was hot, rice was yummy and beans were pretty good. I had chicken enchiladas and a beef hardshell taco . Enchiladas were good. Taco was ok. Great atmosphere! Nice staff!

Food was fine, but nothing special. We ate here last week and it was fine but I wish we had a better experience. I can’t remember what our servers name was but she didn’t even check on us once until we were almost done eating. We felt like she was more interested in conversation with her coworkers than in providing a good experience

It wasn’t what I expected. The menu looks good, but the food didn’t taste good. Apparently, they use canned sauce on the food they serve, and the beans also look canned.

Well prepared fajitas, I got the combo, recommend the chicken and shrimp. Tasty and strong margaritas. What else do you need for a great meal? I highly recommend Chapala Family Restaurant for authentic Mexican food!

Wonderful people. Excellent food. We had the Carne Adobada and Carne Asada tacos and they were excellent. Thanks again for a lovely experience. If we happen to be on another trip closeby/passing through we’ll be sure to drop in!

Unfortunately my experience was just alright. I didn’t have a bad experience by any means, but it was just overall just average.
Some good things to note are the friendliness of the staff, quick service, and clean restaurant. The staff were always there to get you more water or salsa. The food came out hot, it tasted good, and the portions were decent.
While I thought the food tasted good, i felt the presentation and quality of the ingredients was lacking (for the Pollo Fundido at least). Seeing photos of other dishes online makes me interested in coming back and trying something new.

Went to Waterloo for a weekend getaway, stopped here for lunch with my husband. The service was really good, staff is very friendly. I ordered the Chapala Burrito with shredded beef and my husband had the Chile Colorado (both pictured). Both dishes were so amazing. Wonderful flavors and so filling. Great deals on lunch specials. If we are in the area again we will definitely be returning!

Food was good, but I’m not sure what it was, but I got really sick shortly after eating, my husband didn’t get as sick. We didn’t share or try eachothers food, but the only thing we did share was the salsa. I ordered the chicken chipotle burrito, my husband had the chorizo egg dish (forgot what it’s called).

While the food was hot and served extremely quickly, it was a bit lacking in flavors. I’m no fan of spicy food, preferring mild levels of heat, but Chapala’s food is bland. The chips were fantastic, margaritas tasty, and the meal overall was a delight. The table service will amaze you.
