Classic Mexican plates in a wide array accompanied by margaritas in a haciendalike atmosphere.

Heard about this place from my son’s Mother and grandparents because it’s close to his school, so I’ve always had reservations! Today my girlfriend and I decided to take a drive up to sierra madre (Pasadena natives) and put the reputation of this place to the test! It was one of the best choices we’ve made in a long time! The vibe and atmosphere is awesome. The layout from the outside patio to the inside is clean and spacious, and the staff was very friendly and attentive, and the food is by far the best part about it second to none She had the taco and enchilada combination. I had the chicken chimichanga prior to that we shared the plate of small nachos and had two margaritas each which are very very potent. If you’re one of the fan of heart drinkers A+ recommendation A+ service A+ food we will definitely be coming back

Our favorite local Mexican restaurant.
Food is fantastic, service is great, especially the owners. They are extremely friendly and accommodating. We have been going there for years… it feels like home, they make sure everyone feels that way. The food, drinks & desserts has always been super delicious, consistent & plentiful. My favorite menu item is their #10 but they are all delicious! Especially their Margarita’s. It is located in the Sierra Madre Foothills a very small town feel. You feel like you’re on a vacation somewhere far away from home. It is definitely a place to visit if you have never been there, definitely put it on your bucket list.
We highly recommend it.

Our friends live near this restaurant and go about once a week to eat there. We are visiting from Arizona and met them at the restaurant. No parking lot nor handicap parking. Street parking and no wheelchair access to sidewalk in front of restaurant. Restaurant inside is not super wheelchair friendly, but manageable. Waiter greeted us and y took our orders, but once our food was brought to us he didn’t come check on us. Our friends ran out of water and never got refills. The food was excellent though. Waiter never asked us if we wanted dessert. We got there before the dinner crowd.

I’ve been coming here for years — at least once a month — and have always enjoyed my meals. Unfortunately, tonight was very disappointing. The food tasted extremely plain. The rice had no flavor at all, and I ordered the Colorado plate, which was fantastic the last time I had it. This time, it didn’t look appealing and the meat tasted completely unseasoned.
My kids ordered the taquitos, and they came out burned. My son even had to add salt because they were so bland.
We usually come here expecting a great meal, but tonight we left feeling disappointed. Sadly, it makes me question whether we’ll be back.

After coming here for years, it’s time to part ways with one of my favorite restaurants. Due to consistent
poor service and lack of cleanliness. I spoke with the manager back in October about an incident not only with service but restroom hygiene issues. After being seated 20 minute plus waits to get water or any service is inexcusable. I tip generously and have simple orders for my family, responded by pathetic service. This restaurant has endless potential because of the food quality and pricing. The front of the house needs to attend a basic customer service workshop and extensive training on how to be at least competent.

The food is Mid at best. Its like a valley girls take on what Mexican cuisine is. Bland flavorless and uninspired. The service was abysmal, we saw our server 3 times (to take our order; bring us our food; and then to bring us the check). For all other interactions we literally had to flag her down for refills condiments ect. When we were able to get her attention she was so bothered that we had the audacity to expect service. Not sure if it was that one of our party was brown? Or maybe because we didn’t seem like locals? Or maybe the house staff is severely mismanaged / understaffed and she was having a bad day ( 4 diferent employees not servers came to our table for service). Either way, please give your patronage to establishments that value it. I now understand why the other two locations may have failed. I will never be going back…. it kinda made the whole town give me a bit of the “ick” after that experience.

My friend and I came here for happy hour. We shared the nachos and a quesadilla, both were really good. Then we had the taquitos, beans and a fish taco. All the food was super good.

Nice spot with great outdoor seating and ambiance. Hanging lights. Nice view of the mountain backdrop when seated outside. Great service. The chips and salsa were delicious. I ordered the Chile Verde. I liked the flavors of the dish, the only problem was that the Chile Verde and the rice were very bland. I ended up salting the two items. Overall an excellent restaurant.

Great food ! We’ve came here a couple of times & each time we come we get the best service from Nicholas. He is very kind, friendly, and gives his customers the best service. He is fast & makes sure you get attended correctly . Other waitress take too long or don’t look to make sure everything is okay. Nicholas was always around making sure everyone he passed was well served & that is the only reason I’m giving this restaurant 5 stars if it weren’t for him I would have probably done my first 3 star review. Make sure when you come to Casa Del Rey to ask Nicholas to be your server !

We stopped at this restaurant on our way home. I initially thought the food was pricey until I saw the helpings! You get plenty of food for your dollar. And it was very good. The staff was very laid back and made you feel comfortable and welcomed.
