My first time here and OMG, it was delish! I got the salmon with crab meat. It was a little pricy for the amount of crab we got, a spoonful, but it was good. I will likely try something else next time though. The place itself is nice looking inside. We walked in and noone was the host sfand, we stood. about 5 minutes then we just through the line. The service in the line was okay. Prices are high but portions are huge. Definitely will go back.

They have a FULL BAR!! Food is amazing and music is on point for eating good. Karaoke on Fridays and Happy Hour 5-8pm. Customer service was on point as soon as I came in and felt welcomed.

This place is an absolute gem! Every dish is made with so much love and care, and you can taste it in every bite. The menu is packed with irresistible options, and I find myself coming back often without ever being disappointed.
This time, we ordered the fried oysters, firecracker shrimp, and three boneless chicken breasts, and each dish was a flavor explosion! The oysters were perfectly crispy, the shrimp had the perfect spicy kick, and the chicken was tender and juicy. The sides were just as impressive—fresh salad, flavorful mixed vegetables, creamy mac and cheese, and hearty greens and black-eyed peas.
If you’re looking for a place where every meal is a hit, this is it. Highly recommended for anyone who loves great food made with passion!

Love this restaurant. It is my go to when I’m in town. The smothered pork chops is a must try. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is very classy and vintage.

Always have loved Carolina Kitchen. Their greens were seasoned to perfection. I got the smothered pork chops and the seasoning was lacking. First time where the food wasn’t as good. But it was very hot and fresh. Easy fix with some salt and pepper. Definitely try out this location. Look for more reviews from Taste to Takiya

Love the sides at this location. The jerk chicken, meatloaf, & grilled salmon are yummy. Drinks are good & the honey cornbread is good. Customer service can be a hit or miss, I wouldn’t order the fried catfish again, and the banana pudding recipe is now skimping/missing ingredients (but the price remains the same). There’s now no wafers in the banana pudding! A manager mentioned they’ve received some complaints from customers about the banana pudding (provided by an external supplier/vendor) but apparently, the recipe hasn’t improved yet. Hopefully, they’ll get it right soon.

Unfortunately my experience here was not what people hyped it up to be! My family and i drove up from Baltimore. We arrived around lunch time 2-3 the dining area was blocked off, we had to do Carryout and eat our food wherever there was seating. Upon ordering our food the prices were was not worth the quality of the food! The person taking our order barely spoke English. My mom had a catfish with crabmeat it had to be a tea spoon of crab meat if that …first red ! Then i order fried chicken Mac and cheese and greens..the greens were horrible, sweet and not cleaned it gave a gritty flavor, lastly the Mac and cheese it was more cheese than it was Mac just a bowl of cheese ☹️ my girlfriend had salmon , yams and greens, the fish was fair, the yams were soupy☹️at $175 taking a 2 hour i was utter disgusted and disappointed! Even the people who lived in that area were shocked that i drove that far..they all said to me it was definitely not worth it! I have to be honest there needs to be some serious changes from staffing and especially the food!

Where do I start. I’ve been going to CK since I first discovered it in 2012. The food, back then, was amazing! Everything on the menu was delicious. Service was always just “meh!”, but the food was amazing!
Lately though, management clearly has passed the baton to another “spicier” persuasion to run most of their restaurants now, and the food quality and taste has gone down hill tremendously. Last Sunday, I got my usual – the Mama’s Stew Chicken with greens and yams. The chicken was SOOOO SALTY, I only took two bites and ended up tossing it out in the garbage. It was horrible, AND it messed my stomach up for the rest of the day/night. The yams taste like they’re Bruce’s Yams straight out of the can from Costco, with absolutely ZERO seasoning, and the greens were so slimy and greasy, you could literally see the pork browning running off the platter. Disgusting. And the last few times I’ve gone there, this has been the case. Don’t even get me started on the mac and cheese. CK used to be known for their mac n cheese ….. not anymore. I’ve heard nothing but horrible things about it lately from folks around here. And it also looks slimy. The “cheese” on it is so neon yellow, it looks like an 8 year old made it. Oh, and the food ain’t cheap either – it’s expensive here, so I expect stellar results for the amount of money I paid.
Maybe instead of the owner of this franchise flashing all of his new luxury cars all over social media, he might want to actually invest more time into who is running his restaurants. It’s not just the Hyattsville location either – the Brandywine location is the WORST, along with the Rhode Island Ave location. YUCK! Food is horrible. If I want real soul food, I’ll just continue driving up to B’more to get it where it actually tastes like something. Worth the drive.
