The food was all fresh. Fries were not frozen (Clock should take some lessons from this place!) I ordered the shrimp and it was perfectly fried. Tarter sauce was fantastic.
All the food was fantastic. The okra could’ve used some salt but I think restaurants do that on purpose in case their customers don’t like the excess salt.
I had never been here before so I wasn’t sure how any of it worked but you walk in and place your order/pay and then you seat yourself. Keep this in mind because you can’t add a tip to the final bill. Thankfully I had cash on me but I would’ve felt awful had I left and not tipped my waitress – she was lovely.
Lots of smiles from staff and customers. I loved it and I will definitely be back.
P.s. the sweet tea is amazing!
But I was hungry, so I didn’t care
Needless to say, the food is phenomenal in my opinion. I mean, that’s what brought me in lol.
But after the lady took my order, I noticed the price of sausage was 50 cent more than what the menu showed that I requested. And even after I brought it to her attention, she completely ignored me.
My total came out to $12.69 and paid with a 20 so my change was $7.31 but the lady kept my lil penny .
Now I know I’m bein petty bout a penny, but if you’re goin to charge me 50 cent more for some sausage, I need all my change back.
Please and Thank You!!
We usually hit the breakfast buffet — it’s reasonably priced, routinely refilled, and exactly what you expect: classic breakfast staples done reliably well. Nothing fancy, just dependable comfort food.
My only “issue,” if you can even call it that, is that the place — and much of the clientele — feels wonderfully ancient. I’m fairly certain I saw archaeologists excavating one of the booths for historical artifacts. At mid-30s, I was easily the youngest person in the building.
That said, if you want friendly service, a hearty breakfast, and a place that feels like it’s been there since the dawn of time (in a comforting way), Carolina Fine Foods delivers.
The first is the fried pork chop. I like the batter and the juiciness they retained in the cooking. Actually surprised by the quality considering this is usually a weakness in places like this.
Second, they made their mash potatoes to the perfect, texture, at least for me. It was thick, but not to the point it was lumpy. Overall, just a pleasant experience to dip the fried food into.
Their fried chicken was good too. I’ve had better, but it’s better than the average fried chicken.
Service is good. You gotta ask for more plates/bowls rather than being able to pick them up yourself. Also, the utensils, at least the ones I received, were still a bit wet from the dishwasher, so be sure to dry them off with your napkins first.
