I pulled into the parking lot before but decided not to try them out that day. I went another time, I left before ordering because the guy taking orders was rude. Today I decided to try them again. I ordered a rib dinner. The guy ask; “ what type of sauce I wanted.” I said; “mild” he tells the lady that I wanted hot. I told him i wanted mild. The guy says; “$28.80, I walk over to pay, I sit at the counter and get bbq sauce on my arm because the counter was dirty. I pay, the lady hands me a bag. I say thank you and ask what sides are in the bag. The lady was answering me but didn’t speak english well. The guy act as if I asked something offensive as he replied in an irritated tone, he rolled his eyes and said; “ all of our orders come with potatoe salad.” I was taken aback by his response and I responded with, okay, are you okay. He says; “yeah, i’m fine are you.” When I shad asked around about how the food was, I had been warned about a guy working there , (who was thought to be a relative of the owner ) had a nasty attitude and he definitely lived up to that. I spent $30 and was spoken to rudely for asking which sides I were given as this was my first time ordering. Then as I was leaving I was asked what I was looking at and cursed out by a drug addict. Then to add insult to injury the food was lousy. A wasted $30 bucks. Absolutely no meat on the rib pieces because those weren’t spare ribs, They were burned. and nothing but burnt bones. The guy looks like an adult but behaves like a 15 year old girl. First and last time eating there. Full review and video coming soon on tiktok.

I was there back in 2000 and 2001 , the Bar B Q was the Best ever, but after the 911 Event, my Company never send us Back, Our Foremen (Tony Padilla) “Rip” love to take us for dinner after work, such great Memories.
But back in those years the Bar B Q is awesome!

Food is always great but I wish they’d edit their options on door dash… if I’m spending over $120 for two brisket meals to be delivered I should be able to add a side of cornbread to both orders, as we also wanted that… I live far it still wanted to support this bbq place bc it’s sentimental and and when I called they said I can come in for them… just a inconvenience, So when I was assigned a dasher I asked her if she could buy it for me and I’ll send her more than enough- They declined her request to buy two cornbreads… I’m actually upset lmao!!

Came here after a work conference. First off, expensive. A two meat combination plate with a drink will run you nearly $30, and it’s definitely a meal for 1. I got a combination Brisket/Pork Rib, with accompanied potato salad and bread.

First off, bread. Not a roll. Just a few diagnol cuts of right out of the bag wheat bread. No butter, nothing.

The potato salad. A small ice cream scoop worth of (potato salad?) that tastes like something out of a big tub from middle school.

The brisket was okay. Fatty, but cooked well enough to be edible. Outside is VERY crusted, so if you’re not up for a chew, you’re SoL. Not a ton of flavor, despite how fatty it is.

The ribs, where do I start. Dry, flavorless, more fat than meat, and definitely far from fresh. The rack they were cut off looked like it’s been sitting around since yesterday. Difficult to eat, unappetizing, and far from tasty.

Lastly, the barbecue sauce. Or should I say smoky barbecue liquid? It maybe had a good flavor in the first batch, but this sauce (mild) was as liquid as my beer. When transferring to a takeout container, it was impossible to scrape over with a fork, could only pour it out the corner of the plate.

I love barbecue, i love supporting small business, but I did not love this restsurant.

Across from 7-Eleven & next to JJ’s on West A st.
A quaint little Jamaican barbecue place: Carmens’—The jerk Chicken & ribs were outstanding, the brisket was done perfectly to.
I enjoyed the Jamaican vibe, as well as the decorations ( pictures of family on the wall, the nostalgic Pac-Man / old-school games of days gone by…
I caught them at a time when they weren’t too busy; so my order only took a matter of minutes/ taking my order & putting the meal together / just under 50 bucks fed me, my old man -n- our dog.
Portions were large, the only thing and thumb me out was it all the barbecue sauce filled in the bag….
Other than that I would suggest everyone go de Carmen for the wonderful vibe and amazing food…
we still have food left over.

This place has a cool old school feeling to it. The barbecue that they serve is okay. Ordered the two meat plate.

Apparently the jerk chicken cannot be part of the combo so you have to pick from the other options. I went with brisket and ribs. The brisket was on the lean side and it was good. Has a nice bite to them. The ribs is okay. There is a bit of bite to it which doesn’t bother me. Their spicy bbq sauce is great! Would recommend the spicy bbq sauce that they pour over the bbq.

Today dining in I was served food with hair in it. It had to fall on it prior to the cut because it was through the sliced chicken. Discussed but Ive dined here for years and never had issues. So I quietly motion to the waiter and privately show him and ask if it can be replaced. Intentionally not making a scene while they have a huge line inside. He apologized and said it would be replaced. I was quickly brought a plate that had a significantly smaller portion as well as it was now dark meat and not the white meat which I returned. I immediately tell the waiter I didn’t order that, I wanted the white meat replaced. He tells the lady she speaks in Spanish and says no white meat left. (Which I don’t believe) I tell him ok no problem please cancel my order, as well as sides that I was waiting on. He said ok and left the plate on the table. The other person dining with completes their food and goes to pay. She now attempts to charge me for the food. I explained you couldn’t replace it and it’s hair in it. She says well you still have to pay for it , I changed it twice for you. Which was false it was only sent back with the hair and her fault! Knowing it was her half grey, half black strands of hair in my food she still proceeds to argue with me saying to pay for uneaten plate. Going back and forth as if I’m being unreasonable for not eating her hair. After telling her you served me your hair and now charging me because I was quite about as not to scare off customers. The nerve you have to have to argue to some one who gives you a second chance after a disgusting food experience. She continued to disagree until the waiter decided to cover what was clearly her hair /fault as to deescalate the problem. So disappointing I would hate to dine or even work with her. I explained even after your still cooking, and running around with no hairnet. She continued to disagree the other waiter decided to cover what was clearly her hair/fault as to descalate the issue that was not his fault. I just left headed and to Champion Smokehouse BBQ this is unacceptable customer service. I only took pics of the replacement plate smh because I trusted they would handle it properly never again.
You can view pics on other google reviews to see the difference in how the Jerk chicken is normally served and what I received as the replacement. Ive ordered this too not notice she tried to play me on the portions and charge me. Note the gentleman was nice and had excellent customer service. The older Latina woman in the back this review is for you!

Being a BBQ expert, I knew about Carmen’s for many years and still believe their sausage is some of the bay areas finest. Had to be in the area and couldn’t resist a 3 meat platter. Still as good as ever and it’s good to see a place like this surviving in today’s prices. The platter wasn’t cheap but neither is good meat. And yes it’s worth every penny !! Got the sausage, rib, and brisket with the medium spice sauce. Carmen’s sauce is very old school dark sauce that’s sweet in its own flavorful way…Its very much their own sauce and it’s finfer smacking good.

Awful! I was reccomended this place and they asked me what sauce i want, so i chose Mild and Spicy thinking it was actual sauce on the side for dipping, or a marinade etc… Your plate will arrive looking like a pool of soup. The meat is tough and chewy… they serve you sliced bread from a grocery store…. do not go here!
