Party of 3, we were all very happy. My wife ordered French Toast and it was great and hot. Our other 2 items were Mexican dishes and were good. Would definitely go back.

I’ve eaten here several times and the food is good, the servers are attentive, and the prices don’t hurt your wallet.
I’ve tasted several plates…the menudo (my fave!), barbacoa, enchiladas, carne guisada….all have been tasty and you always get the “just like my mother made it” taste.
They always start you off with chips and salsa…the chips have never been stale and the salsa is usually warm and tastes fresh. The corn and flour tortillas appear to be freshly made which is how they should always be made at any respectable Mexican restaurant.
I won’t give it the full 5 stars because the food is good…but there’s a few places out there with say, better chilaquiles or menudo.
But it’s still a good place to take your family on a Sunday afternoon to enjoy a nice meal…

Been here at Carmelita’s Restaurant several times for breakfast and lunch, food has always been great so has the service and of course I try to go during the day when everyone is at work so it not that packed, daily lunch specials too.

So.. this place is in San Juan. Nice town and decided to get some Mexican food. Took awhile to find something and decided to try this place out. It was just OK. Food is missing some spice and some color.. Waiters are friendly but it doesn’t really compare to the food and the portions. I thought some plates were alil skimpy looking. Food around here doesn’t quite compare close to the heart of Texas.

Great meals feel homemade. The tortillas are freshly made and that makes a huge difference. Enjoy a nice comfort meal that takes care of your craving and makes you feel like you’ve been here before.

I was going for breakfast and they served coffee and they took a long time to take my menu. Then let me & my husband know they’re not serving breakfast. I asked them I came for breakfast so was going to ask if they can make breakfast then we got another waitress asking for our order. I was like what? I always go to their other location and they still have breakfast. Bad service.
