Captain’s Sports Lounge is a solid choice in the Northland if you’re craving a hearty burger in a laid-back, sports-bar setting. We went with two of their signature burgers and were really happy with both.
The Louisiana Breakfast Burger—topped with a fried egg, bacon, provolone, and bistro sauce—was rich, messy (in the best way), and packed with flavor. The egg added a great creamy element that tied everything together. The Crazy Burger, with provolone, bacon, and their signature Crazy sauce, lived up to its name with bold, savory flavor and a nice kick.
For sides, we had onion rings and tater tots. The onion rings were crispy and well-seasoned, and the tots were hot, crunchy, and exactly what you want alongside a big burger.
The atmosphere was relaxed and casual, perfect for watching a game or grabbing an easy meal. If you’re in the Kansas City Northland and looking for a satisfying burger with classic sides, Captain’s Sports Lounge is definitely worth a stop.

What a fun little holiday pop-up experience! Staff was super friendly and attentive. Food was yummy and came out quick. The holiday decorations were so fun and my kids loved the Frosty’s To-Do list activity! Such a fun way to bring an end to the holiday season.

First Visit and So Impressed!
We ate at Captain’s for the first time this evening and I have to list the highlights because it was truly impressive!
Service:
Our waitress, Kaylyn, was amazing. Attentive, personable, and confident in her recommendations—which were spot-on. She was genuinely one of the best servers we’ve had in Kansas City in a long time!
Food:
The food exceeded expectations.
• The hamburger was incredibly fresh and you can tell the meat is locally sourced. Honestly one of the best burgers I’ve had in KC.
• The tenderloin was outstanding—thin, perfectly pounded (about 1/4”), and unbelievably tender. We’ve been on a mission to find the “best” tenderloins in KC, and Captain’s absolutely deserves to be on that list.
• Fries were crispy and cooked correctly (not many places get fries right anymore).
• Onion rings were equally great—crispy, not greasy.
What Could Be Improved:
The only downside—and it was very noticeable—was the table layout and traffic flow.
The tables were close together with a large walkway nearby, yet staff continually squeezed through the narrow space between us and the wall (and between us and the table behind us). We felt like we had to constantly move forward to let people pass, and it happened dozens of times.
It would make a huge difference in comfort if staff used the wider walkway instead of constantly cutting through tight spaces.

It’s a fun relaxed atmosphere inside but you can also bring family. Great for date nights. There are TVs everywhere so it’s great for all sports ⚽️ ⚾️ and tournaments. The servers are great!

Don’t recommend this bar for any minorities. My friend hosted a speed dating event at this bar just trying something different and there were all ethnicities in attendance, primarily black. Came out to show my support and had food and drinks at the bar afterwards and one lady was so blatantly drunk she started YELLING about how the white girls were so desperate that they had to come out and date black BOYS. Said they must only do that cause they didn’t live up to their expectations. She went on for about 5 minutes and everybody including the bartender was acting like they didn’t hear her. Spoke to another guy at the bar and he said she had been in there drinking all day. There was a younger white gentleman that works at the bar and he’s the same age as me, 27 years old, and he said that lady actually used to work at this bar but apparently she got fired for whatever reason. He was actually in attendance for the speed dating event like me and he was a really cool dude, could tell he genuinely had a good time and showed me not everybody is like that who works here. I’ve never wrote a review on google for anything in my life but I spoke to the general manager about what was going on before I left and told her it wasn’t a very good look at all, especially with all the younger and older African Americans that came out for the first time like myself. I also told my friend to never host an event at this place ever again. I know everybody in Missouri isn’t like this but I felt like it was important for me to spread the word regarding all the hate I heard while we were all out just trying to enjoy ourselves and have a good time. Disgraceful.

Omg I’m very picky and they have the best 1/2 lb burgers. I mean there’s not many places that are awesome. They have a crazy sauce with a cream cheese jalapeño base. Me, I dipped the fries in it. My friend had the crazy sauce on the chicken sandwich and loved it. Employees are genuinely friendly and there’s kidding and laughs. Dead in the day—-Come on Boomers looking for a lunch place and theres live entertainment some nights and I believe trivia which I know nothing and have to stay home !! We love it!!

First visit and won’t go back. We were seated and waited 20 minutes and no one server stopped at our table. I watched people being seated and getting immediate service. I did ask the hostess if someone could at least take our drink orders and still no one came by our table. We left after waiting another 5-10 mins, total of half an hour.

I went to this place a few years ago. Great experience. Looked it up today for Brunch. They have a brunch menu online. We got there and they did not offer brunch. We had already ordered drinks so we stayed. Food was mediocre, and very slow. My bloody Mary was delicious and Tammy was a great bartender. Please bring your brunch menu back.
