At our Oakland, TN location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

Placed order on line as instructed. Food to be ready at 5:41 (est), wasn’t ready until 6:12, delivered to car at 6:13. Personnel could have cared-less about customer (s) as 3 other vehicles also waited at least 30 minutes for order. Used to be a great place, good service and foods It has not gone down-hill like ALL the other so-called fast foods, mainly because of POOR SERVICE. Will NOT RETURN, good food but lack of service equals – go somewhere else! (Have eaten there several times, but no more)

The young lady who took my order was extremely rude, rolled her eyes when I asked for a family meal. The kitchen staff did amazing with the food. We enjoyed our food, service was terrible.

Thank you for the slice of the most wonderful chocolate cheesecake I have ever eaten. The fish was fresh and delicious as well. The service with a smile was nice to see these days. Highly recommend you try this location.

I visited this location and only did I return because the previous visit my food order was incorrect and cold. I came to the counter and I told the young lady that I was here for a computer meal. She and the cook gave me the 3rd. Degree because I didn’t have the receipt. I spoke with Amber and she said for me to just stop by. I did find the receipt before I left. Unfortunately when I got home the order was still incorrect. I specifically asked for fish and I received Chicken. So done with them.

I don’t know why I’m bothering. They only see positive reviews. Well, everything they’ve responded to has been positive reviews, except for one negative review.
Our first experience here was quite disappointing. The fish just didn’t taste as good as it normally does & the shrimp was rubbery. The mac & cheese wss great, huspuppies not so much. And what’s up with the size of the fish? This looks more like a strip of crab leg meat battered and fried than any fish filet I’ve ever seen. And for what they charge it is ridiculous!

We stopped at the Captain D’s in Oakland this afternoon, after a long day in Memphis .
We went through the drive-through and had the pleasure of Miss LaToya taking our order and going over and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed and then more.
It’s so nice to meet such a cheerful, sweet lady while ordering your dinner.
I hope Captain D’s appreciates her as much as we did.

Went there last night to pick up some dinner. Only 3 people in line at the drive through and 2 cars total at the parking lot. Sat there for a quite a while until the car at the order window drove off. Proceeded to wait too long and the car in front of me drove off as well. I got to the window and the person on the intercom said “Hold on a Minute” and after several minutes, never responded again. I tried to give benefit of the doubt that maybe the intercom was malfunctioned, so I drove to the window to place my order and no one was there, at all. I, like the people in front of me just gave up and left. If they are that understaffed, they should just close. Previously, I had gone there and an employee was eating at the window with her gloved hands which is, I’m sure a major violation and it turned me off of eating there for a long time. They are doing a lousy job of who they hire to be professional. They all need better training or more productive and professional employees.

First time I tried this location, the catfish fillets were small. The sides as well. It was good though. Tried it again today. Ordered 3 piece catfish dinner just like before. Couldn’t tell exactly what kind of fish it was. It was cooked extra crispy, not like the first catfish nuggets I received. Was hoping at least for some delicious catfish, despite the size. Probably won’t order catfish again. I will give it one last try and order something different. If it’s not satisfactory on the third visit I will no longer eat there. Also, the drive thru attendant threw away my receipt. Common courtesy, hand receipt with card or change. Ask if I want it before trashing it.

We go here 2 to 3 times weekly and many times the food is fresh and taste great. If you go during hours that are not peak, the wait has started to become extended and the food not as fresh. Update, just went through drive thru Sunday 5/6 at 4:45pm and received food after waiting for about 15 minutes in car line. Baked fish is dry and rice is so old it’s hard and not edible. Disappointing as this store started out so well and we don’t want to see it go the same direction as some of the other stores in Oakland. I called the store to speak with a manager but the person answering the phone asked me why I wanted to speak with a manager. When I told her the reason, she became rude and put me on hold. No one ever picked up the line.
Update 9/20/24 You just can’t make this up!! It’s been 2 months since our last visit due to inconsistent service and food. Like fools we decided to try it again. Seven cars in parking lot spaces and we sat at the order menu for 20 minutes only to be told twice, “we will be right with you”. Drove off without food and this store is no different than the majority of fast food restaurants in Oakland that are staffed with individuals who wouldn’t have a chance, keeping a job at McDonalds or Burger King, where they actually know how to “run” the business. We are now done here. Good luck staying open.
