At our Wetumpka, AL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

I don’t know if the food is good or not because I ended up staying behind a car for 5 minutes today (12/21/25 at 12:55pm) in the drive through and I don’t think they ordered as they went inside. Then, when it was my turn, they told me to hold on their short staff. Too many other options for short-staffed establishments or poor customer service. I will not be back.

This was my first time at eating at this particular Captain D’s, I can promise you, it will be the last.
I normally don’t sit down and eat these days, but thought I would, as I was tired.
Let me say, the staff was polite, and the food seemed fine, but I couldn’t bring myself to it, due to the filthy conditions.
We sat at the only decently clean table. I went to wash my hands, the soap for the soap dispenser was just sitting on top. It is not the kind you can just pour. The entire restaurant floor was disgusting, covered in dirt and what appeared to be grease. The majority of the tables had trash on then, and have not been wiped recently. To top it off, they brought the tray out with our food, and it was filthy with dried food and ketchup on it.
We went in at lunchtime, so it wasn’t like a huge crowd just left, there were 2 other people there, commenting about the same stuff. There is no way this place was cleaned within the past week, just disgusting!

I keep trying to give this location a chance because it’s closest to us, but once again it failed. Although the lady at the window was very nice, all the items of food were not good. The fish was delicious but the BROCCOLI was awful (picture below). I don’t even know what that is — it was all dried up and BROWN, not fresh at all..sorry but we will not be coming back

I placed an online order to pick up. When I received it, it didn’t look like the batter dipped fish. The young lady taking orders came out first and insisted it was the same fish not the hand battered. I didn’t think so, so she offered to re-order and I said yes please. The manager brought it out the second time and she was very polite, professional and satisfied me with my order. I don’t know who has the Captain D’s in Wetumpka, but you hired the right manager. She really knows what good customer relations is all about. I owned a business and customer relations make all the difference. Congratulations to the owner for making a great hiring decision. (visit was today 4-30-2025 between 1:45 and 2:15)

Food was what you expect from Captain D’s. Service was ok. Store hasn’t been maintained or updated in years. If the kitchen looks half as bad as the dining area the place need to be shut down. Obviously Captain D’s doesn’t check on their franchises.

I keep giving this place a chance! They always fail. The food was edible, but not good by any stretch! The place was filthy and understaffed we had to ask for every condiment we got, even straws. I was disheartened, again
