At our Northport, AL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

We’ve eaten here in the past, always good. Coming to Nport this evening, was looking forward to eating here again. Well, it was like COMING HOME…nicest people in the world, especially the lady who took my order, older tall lady w very short hair. What a pleasant and helpful person with my indecisive self. I haven’t tasted my food yet but watching the people work together in the kitchen, I know it’s going to be GREAT! THANNNNK YOU to whoever hired this group. AWESOME!’

My friend and I stopped here for lunch. There were four people ahead of us in line. The reason for the 30 minute wait was the cashier. She couldn’t hear what anyone was telling her. She kept holding her hand to her left ear like she had an ear ache. She couldn’t find the button for the food being ordered. The clerk at the drive thru had to keep coming over and showing her how to ring it up. She only used two fingers to punch buttons and dig out change. She was exceedingly slow. Even sliding out four pennies was painfully slow. She forgot to give the number card for the table so they knew where our table was to bring our food. It took another 10 minutes to get it. They called our order# on our receipt, not the guest# of the card on our table. So that was confusing. Then they forgot the condiments that were requested at the time of the order. The only people who seemed to know what they were doing was the man in the kitchen and the woman at the drive thru who helped everywhere that she saw a need. The food was good except for the corn on the cob, which needed some butter, and the coleslaw wasn’t that great. I ordered the lobster bites, shrimp, and fish. It comes with one piece of fish, four shrimp,

We used the drive thru at 7pm. Ordered fish and shrimp dinner and catfish dinner with macaroni and broccoli sides. Food was fresh and hot. Seemed like there was only 1 or 2 employees working so cashier was working her tail off. But a few minute wait is worth fresh cooked food always. Only issue was when we got home shrimp was not in the box. Everything else was correct and delicious. So just check your oder before you drive off and enjoy.

I’m not sure how this location even has 4 stars. I’m extremely upset and it’s probably because I waited in line for at least 30-45 minutes to even order. I ordered the fish and shrimp plate. I get up to the window, the lady working doesn’t even greet me or say sorry for the wait, nothing. Takes her 10 minutes before she even gets my card for me to pay. I finally get my food after all the workers are in there carrying on and playing around. I get home (another 30 minutes) and open the plate and there is no shrimp…so I paid for more than what I got. I will never be back and whoever is over this location needs to address this issue before it’s reported to health and safety and shut down. This use to be a great place and but this experience was very unpleasant. Management needs to be addressed.

My first visit was at the drive thru and I said that I would do that again. So this Sunday after church I went inside and ordered the food to go and could not believe that a number was given to the customer to put on the table they sat at and the customer food was set on the counter and the girl would scream out the number for the customer to come back to the counter with the number to get their food I’ve never seen it that way that’s not how it works at other restaurants that use that system. With the confusion of the workers trying to deal with the crowd and the service. I did get a free drink for having to wait for over thirty minutes for what I ordered that I thanked them for and with the drive home I did decide Captain D’s Northport Alabama will not have to worry with the thought of me coming back again.

I ORDER THE 3PIECE BATTER DIPPED FISH WITH ALL FRIES AND SHRIMPS AND THE SHRIMP WAS BLACK LIKE THEY DIDN’T CHANGE THE GREASE THE SHRIMP SUPPOSED TO BEEN LIGHTER THAN THAT AS I SEEN ON THE COUNTER ON THE PICTURE AND THE INSIDE OF THE SHRIMP LOOK LIKE THEY WEREN’T DONE BUT ANYWAYS IT PROBABLY WILL BE A MINUTE OR A WHILE BEFORE I GO BACK THERE.

I wish they would just number the items on the menu. It would be easier for me to say #5, and the counter help push #5. Than to have to explain what you are ordering. Calling the item what it is called on the menu is useless, as the counter help just look at you blank as if you ordered something off the taco bell menu. It was all I could do to get the ol’ gal to turn around and look at item I was referring to on the menu. I think I will take a pass on Captain D’s next trip through Northport Alabama. The restaurant was in disarray, some of the soda options were just carbonated water due to the syrup tanks being empty, and the trash cans were full. It appeared as though there were plenty of people to staff the restaurant, but maybe they were all new. I may try back in a couple of months.

I stopped by with my Father for a seafood platter, the fish, shrimp, crab cake and macaroni was all very good, the broccoli was ok, but this is what I normally get when stopping by. Go by and get you a plate of your favorite. Thanks
