At our Bessemer, AL location, we are part of a historic seafood tradition. Captain D’s Seafood Restaurant first opened its doors back on August 15, 1969. A lot has changed since then, but our commitment to serving freshly prepared seafood at a great value has been our core mission from the beginning. Known originally as Mr. D’s Seafood and Hamburgers, Captain D’s was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. From the very start, we set out to provide quality seafood at reasonable prices, a concept that was revolutionary at the time.

The help and customer service today was point on was the best thing out of the meal. They have changed their fish yet again supposedly went back to the original, but this is not the original fish. It was not horrible, but it was not what they need to get back to go to the root. it’s still kinda taste and looks like a swap or bossa.

The food was good and hot.
The drive thru was backed up around the building so, I go inside to get an order to go, one person in line waiting for assistance. I see three cars complete their order and I’m sitting down waiting for assistance. I see two more cars pull out of the drive thru. So I leave without anything but aggravation.

Food was great. MR Ken was there, and the white manager, who is one of the best managers I ever met, was the one fixing the plates very fast, and the food was delicious. Now I will have to tell you that I went there two weeks ago as I all ways do and the white manager was not there so there was a black Woman she is one of the manager now this lady was very slow I thought to myself oh ok it’s taking this long it’s got to be fresh and hot and got to be good boy was I wrong the food was cold and the manager had a bad attitude so needless to say, I won’t be back there unless White manager and or Mr Ken is there I mean to think that how long it took for the woman manager to make the plates that it would be good food it was a horrible and the manager was just as horrible and very slow at her job. So you want someone fast it’s the white lady making my food and Mr Ken now the food and the
service I had today was. wonderful and fast. Great service all around and my ratings for today are a 10+ and my rating for two weeks ago when I came was a -0 so please MR Ken if you want more of your customers to keep. Coming then you had better not lose the little white lady she cares about her job great manager you have got don’t lose that’s one.

Sat in the damn line 37mins just for the cashier to come back and say, we waiting on fish????????? To be what delivered or cook? Still waiting in line as I currently type…….. I would recommend this place to roaches. The wait is tooooo damn long.

This was by far the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had. I’m visiting from Illinois and decided to support this business, but I truly regret it. We waited over 40 minutes for our food, only to receive two nugget-sized pieces of catfish—after paying $15 per plate!
This is absolutely unacceptable. The quality and portion size were insulting, and the overall service was just as disappointing. We weren’t the only ones complaining either—several other customers were just as frustrated.
Charging $15 for two tiny pieces of catfish is outrageous. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Total rip-off.
Not to mention how nasty the restaurant is where the food is being cooked at it seems like it should be infested with some type of bug or animal absolutely nasty

So we do not have a location in our area as they have shut down many years ago BUT the location!! Amazing! The food was just as we remembered. It was fresh and hot…. Something I definitely look for when grabbing a bite. We had the fish and shrimp with garlic fries. Definitely will remember this when passing through with the mister on road trips.
