I went here on a Tuesday night while traveling in town for work. I took a good group there for dinner, and was amazed at how wonderful this place was. Everyone had different dishes and we all thought that they were fantastic. Everything was way better than just good, it was really great. The only thing I would say that wasn’t great, was the plain bread that they bring out. The atmosphere is nice, the service is very good and we were pleased to give our business to a place that has been around for 100 years.

Phenomenal crab cakes, creamed spinach, calamari, wedge salad, and homemade tiramisu shared late evening after Chambers Singers concert at Highland! We caught only the last piano song of the night, but plan to return.

It is a very nice Italian restaurant in Freeport. The foot is great, and our waitress, a 17-year veteran, was spectacular!! We will be back!

Michael, our server, couldn’t have been better. We hadn’t been to Cannova’s for years and were incredibly impressed with all aspects of our visit. Food was delicious, service outstanding. We’ll be back again soon!

This has been one of my whole families favorite restaurants for 30 years but so many of the things that made this place great have really slipped in the past years and with the OUTRAGEOUS PRICE INCREASE we won’t be going there anymore. Our last few visits we’ve experienced terrible service. Once with our entrees coming before our appetizers or salads. Again the next time we went we received no salads before they brought our entrees and offered to send them in a bag to go and when I instead asked for a few dollars taken off the bill instead as I didn’t have room in my fridge for them, they were rude about it, both the waitress and especially the young man working the cash register. We were also super disappointed that my kid’s favorite appetizer that used to be a huge plate of fresh hand battered onion rings had been replaced by a much smaller serving of frozen breaded onion rings. We also all noticed that the Sicilian Delight we all loved had much smaller portions of veal, lasagna and mostaccioli. The smaller portions were understandable with the increase in food prices so it didn’t bother me and still wanted to go there for my birthday dinner tonight and when our party of 10 was seated and given the new menus we were shocked. Basically the entire menu that had already had its portions lessened was increased in price by 60%-70%. The calamari appetizer we usually get for $9.95 was now $16.95. They had done away with all half orders and increased the price of all of their full order pastas by 60% and then was $8 to add a grilled chicken breast. With that increase, no half orders, no kids menu, we walked out. On my way out I mentioned the crazy price increase and the waitress sharply replied that there hadn’t been an increase in prices for 6 years and walked away and the manager replied that the cost from their suppliers have gone up. Well $5 for a cup of just sauce when every other Italian restaurant in this city and every other is .50 cents to a $1 at most. Shame on you guys, just greedy.

5+ stars! A real Italian restaurant! Been owned by the same family since 1926. Great service, fantastic food and wonderful atmosphere. This restaurant rivals any Italian restaurant in the country. Pizzas are fantastic! Everything is home made of course and they are also known for their Sicilian Filet. You can’t go wrong here. A lot of the employees ate family and a lot of the non family employees have been here for years and years. Our waitress has 26 years of service! Cannot say enough good about this restaurant. If you are in town for 1 meal make sure you go here!

Great food and atmosphere! The calamari was overcooked and I would not recommend it. The rest of the meal was excellent!

One of the best restaurants in Freeport. Boasted chicken is excellent. Pizza is really good. Pasta dishes typically good. Sometimes lasagna tastes old. House salad dressing is great.
