The fish and chips was great some of the best I’ve had. The music was soothing, they played Michael Jackson’s oldies. The desert was fantastic. The waitress didn’t ask if I wanted more water even when my glass was empty, I had to ask the bus-boy for more water. Then she slammed the check on the table as if it was busy which it wasn’t, I was one of three customers. Would have given 5 stars but customer service needs to tighten up. There’s good and then there’s great, this was at best okay. Just being honest with this review. Taking care of customers goes a long way. Perfect 5 Stars to the Chef!

Stopped in here before hopping on the ferry and was extremely impressed! The reviews I read made remarks that it was diner food but they had much more options than most diners do and everything was very high quality. Decorated inside with interesting antiques and beautiful chandeliers. Our lovely waitress (I believe her name was Emma) made sure we were in and out quickly so we could catch our ferry but still maintained excellent and personable service. A wonderful spot! Just make sure you do your job as a customer and communicate with your server on how much time you have if catching the ferry after!

Loved Callens. It came recommended to us. The menu has many varieties and happy hour is wonderful priced. Ema S was a wonderful server and could make excellent sweet tea with simple syrup.
Deviled eggs were wonderful. Had clam chowder and tomato bisque both very tasty.
Scallops were so fresh. The shrimp roll was on a Hawaiian roll. Everything was excellent!!!

Went for a birthday dinner and this restaurant did not disappoint!! We were seated right away, window table with a view of the ferry. The food was amazing. 2 of us had the salmon plank dinner and it was perfection. We were given dessert on the house! Our server was absolutely fantastic she was attentive, super friendly and great to chat with. I would say this is a must stop if you are ever on Whidby Island!! Worth the drive!!!

Stopped in on a Sunday for lunch during our adventures on Whidbey Island. There was about a 30 minute wait to be seated, and about a 10 minute wait for a waiter to take our order(clam chowder and 2 orders of fish and chips). It took roughly 30 minutes to get our clam chowder, and another 15 for the 2 orders of fish and chips. Once we received our food we immediately could tell it had been sitting out for a while as the cod breading and fries were pretty soggy. I will say that the clam chowder was delightful as well as their tartar sauce. I don’t think we will be stopping here again.

We decided to eat at Callen’s for my birthday early dinner. Happy Hour was underway in the bar area, but we opted for the less packed and more quiet dining room. Rayne was an excellent server and we were also promptly served with waters by a friendly young man. Callen’s is definitely a casual place and reminded me of a seaside diner. I opted for the fish and chips and my husband had the sockeye salmon BLTA sandwich. Both were tasty and did not disappoint. We enjoyed our experience and want to return for breakfast sometime.

Happy hour was the perfect time of day on the coast to enjoy some mussels, accompanied by an absolutely beautifully plated wedge salad. The chowder paired perfectly.

I’ve generally found that restaurants positioned near ferry lines — especially the ones where people wait for hours — rarely serve up anything worth the wait. But I’m so glad I ignored that instinct and gave Callen’s a chance!
We were glamping nearby, and the idea of having someone else do the cooking sounded heavenly. What I didn’t expect was to find a menu this creative and inviting — a lineup that ran the gamut from seafood classics to playful sandwiches.
I went for the spicy chicken sandwich, which turned out to be an absolute beast — the kind you have to unhinge your jaw to tackle. It was stacked with all my favorite guilty pleasures: smoky bacon, slices of fresh jalapeño, and a tangy slaw that brought everything together with a zippy crunch. Every bite was this perfect storm of heat, salt, and sweet that had me grinning like a fool.
My husband went his usual route — a wedge salad — but this wasn’t your run-of-the-mill iceberg situation. Callen’s version was a showstopper: crisp lettuce piled high with oven-roasted cherry tomatoes, shards of candied bacon that shattered like toffee, and a blanket of their house-made bleu cheese dressing that was creamy, sharp, and completely irresistible.
Our campsite may have offered the peace and beach I was craving, but it’ll be Callen’s that lures me back next summer. Ferry traffic or not, this little spot is absolutely worth the detour.

Absolutely delicious and a perfect spot after we got off the car ferry. We were on vacation from the east coast so having lots of sea food. I had the fish and chips and the fish was perfectly crispy and just the right amount. Everyone else, including our 10 year old, was very happy with their meals. Highly recommend.

I ordered food to go and they were on top of it. I didnt even have a chance to call them when I pulled up to pick my food up they were already out the door with it. Food was hot my only complaint is they dont season there food very much. Definetly needed some salt and pepper on all the food. And then the bowl of clam chowder. It was 11 dollars for a cup of chowder. Or for an additional 3 dollars you can upgrade it to a bowl. Well I upgraded the cup to a bowl and they didnt bother upgrading my cup of chowder to a bowl. I still got a cup of chowder even though they charged me for 2 bowls of chowder. The container they used to put the chowder in is a cup size not a bowl and I wouldnt recommend getting the bowl cause its the same size as a cup. .
