Background, I’m Italian heritage and I don’t like eating Italian food at restaurants.
Tried this place and the food was very very good. I’m thinking my mama would like it here. Besides good food another highlight is it’s BYOB. That alone saves u BIG money.
Okay here we go… Service was good and food was good. Several traditional items on the menu plus they have daily specials. One of the few Italian restaurants that have veal (if that’s your thing). Portions were a good size so you don’t get super stuffed and have no room for dessert.
Let’s talk dessert, black coffee was good and the cannoli was just so so. Filling needed to be a little thicker and richer, it was ok if u don’t have any Italian blood in you. You gotta look at the pics. Yum.
P.S. yes I would differently be back, but next time I’ll bring more wine .
The service was terrible, I have visited alot of restaurants.
(MR Nicky) your service was terrible and he was rude. Bad attitude, he ignored us, and we even had ask for simple things to attend to us. He was nice when I paid the check . He is friendly with other costumers ,it was probably the color of my skin.
The lobster ravioli dish was 5 stars, but the lasagna had no flavor, the tomato looked like it was from the can ! I give it 0 stars.
The bread look nice, but had no flavor and was dry. And the mozzarella sticks looked like they were from the freezer store bought.
I don’t know how they have a 4.6 star reviews. I would give them a 3.5.
Please check the service .
The service is very good, the brothers are attentive and kind. Its BYOB, so it’s nice to be able to bring exactly what you like. Since we’re craft beer people, we can bring a perfectly paired beer. We tend to get here on the earlier side so that there is no wait, its a busy and popular restaurant for a reason! You can’t go wrong here!
The clam linguine only had 5 clams yet managed to have sand grit in every single bite. I’m really not sure where they got the rest of the cut up clams that they added to the sauce; that’s a really cheap move for such a high priced dish. The sauce was so incredibly watery and bland, and they just shaved a whole garlic clove into it. What?? I kept imaging how Gordon Ramsey would put them through the wringer for that dish.
The house salad dressing sounds good, but it’s just a weird tomato sauce (I was imagining a hint of tomato but it is full-on sauce). My husband got a tiny bowl of spaghetti on the side of his veal dish (weird, he didn’t order it), but the tomato sauce tasted straight from a can, no seasoning whatsoever, kinda like the pasta from CiCi’s Pizza. Also, BYOB might save money, but it’s very annoying when you are trying a new restaurant and can’t even order a glass of wine. How the heck was I supposed to know to stop by the liquor store beforehand?
Sorry I would have let this experience go without reviewing, but I genuinely don’t believe this restaurant deserves anywhere near its current rating. The prices are ridiculous.
1) They are BYOB, which is a real plus for saving money, and they never judge how many bottles we drink!
2) The service team is fantastic. They have treated us like family since our very first visit.
3) The atmosphere is that of a cozy, intimate, family-run Italian cafe.
4) Now, I say this as a born-and-raised Texan and not an Italian, but their food is awesome. Between me and all the friends and family I’ve brought here through the years, we’ve made our way through the whole menu and haven’t had a single bad thing. The worst we’ve found here I’d call just “good” (chicken Parmesan, fettuccine, the house salad) while the best we’ve found are really delicious show stoppers that keep us coming back hungry for more (the house dressing, chicken arrabiata and chicken Jerusalem, filet mignon opua and Madeira, any of their veal dishes, the mussels marinara and the seafood combo). My biggest issue with this place is always deciding what to get because everything is so good!
5) Save room for dessert y’all! The cappuccino pie and limoncello cakes are the show stoppers for anyone with a sweet tooth. Their cannoli is just “good”, but their tiramisu is great. I haven’t tried their coffee myself but have been told it’s pretty good as well.
Thank you, Cafe Italia, for all the delicious food, wonderful service, and precious memories over the years! I’ll be back for many, many more.
