We started with the fresh summer rolls, and they were exactly what I was hoping for — light, clean, and packed with flavour. The prawns were plump and sweet, the slices of pork tender, and the crunch from the lettuce gave every bite a lovely freshness. Dipped into the sweet chili sauce, they struck that perfect balance of savoury and slightly tangy. Simple, but done really well.
The pho was the star for me. The broth had that deep, comforting richness that tells you it’s been given time and care. It wasn’t overly salty, just beautifully rounded and warming. The beef was tender with a blush of pink, and the generous scatter of spring onions added a fresh lift to each spoonful. It felt wholesome and restorative — the kind of bowl you slow down for.
I also had a bright green iced drink that was refreshing and slightly sweet, which paired surprisingly well with the meal and added a fun touch to the table.
All in all, it felt like an honest, satisfying meal made with care. I’ll definitely be back.
We shared a banh cuon and bi cuon. Then we had pho tai, bo kho, pho dac biet (prawns, chicken and beef), bun no xao (rare beef pho), bun tom hue. This was more than enough for 4 adults and 2 kids.
You can make some of the plates spicy dishes or have them non-spicy. The pho broth was quite nice.
Things we didn’t try, but are popular- soy milk, mango salad and the pho tai chin.
There were tables available on a Saturday in early March around 1pm. They have high chairs available (though the one we had wasn’t the cleanest).
The total bill was £122.80. Service is not included. The previous Cafe East in Canada Water was cash only, but this one takes card.

Spring rolls: 5/5 Fresh, loved the noodle and pork inside, well-seasoned! Also loved the sauce with it.
Beef Pho: 5/5 well-seasoned, huge portions! Loved the beef, it was really soft. The broth tastes so good. Best for the cold weather
The coffee is incredible.
Highly recommend.
One positive change is the addition of a new dish to the menu, and the food still retains its delicious taste. However, I must mention that the portions seem to be smaller than before, especially for the drinks.
In the past, the old cafe’s large portions of vegetables were one of the main attractions for me, but now they are served in smaller quantities, which makes them less appealing.
The food here is absolutely delicious — especially the slow-cooked dishes, which are bursting with flavour.
I felt completely immersed in the atmosphere of Vietnam — the food is excellent, the staff are wonderful, and the décor is simple yet authentically Vietnamese (even though I’ve never been there myself!).
A truly enjoyable dining experience that I would gladly repeat.
I finally tried the new location in Blackheath, and as someone similarly said in the reviews, its somehow underwhelming like something is missing? The broth is no longer rich and flavourful like it used to. The pho taste more sweet than salty. Its just strange and honestly from cost perspective – its really expensive £15 for a bowl of pho where u can easily find a better pho for around £10
The mango salad was really good but very small size.
Overall its still not that bad but not a place i would go out of my way to eat
Food is delicious and so fresh. Went with my friend and we both enjoyed it massively.
Went for Sunday early lunch and every table was full with a queue out the door – totally understandable why.
The owner (I think the owner) came and chatted to us, recommended some dishes and told us how different dishes were made. Very friendly and added a really nice personable touch.
Excellent value for money for amazing quality food. Thanks for a great experience.
at Holborn. Luv the Bo Kho, very flavourful and their Pho broth is out of the world. Chicken broth 11 out of 10 during their grand opening. Beef broth 10/10. Highly recommended!
