The food was GREAT and the service was above and beyond. We had a great meal. The scone was good. My mother enjoyed her turkey dinner.

Dear Katie and Bryan,

I wanted to take a moment to personally thank you for the incredible job you do managing Butterburr’s. Every time my family and I visit, we are blown away by how smoothly the restaurant runs, even when you are packed to the doors!

It’s clear that your leadership is the reason the staff is so friendly and the atmosphere feels like home. Whether it’s the perfectly timed service or the way you both make us feel like “regulars,” we truly appreciate the hard work you put in every day.

Thank you for making Butterburr’s such a special place for our community.

Warmly,

McKenzie Crane

It is wonderful to see you giving a shout-out to **Brittney Dahlquist**. As the daughter of founders Kelly and Sheryl Talbot, she has done an incredible job carrying on her father’s legacy, especially since the restaurant moved into its iconic “castle” location on West Cedar Street.

Her hands-on leadership is a big part of why Butterburr’s feels so consistent and welcoming. Here’s a breakdown of the “exquisite” dishes and why the management team stands out:

### ** Must-Try “Fan Favorite” Dishes**

| Dish | Why It’s Famous |
| :— | :— |
| **SST Special** | The “Soup, Sandwich, and Treat” is the gold standard for lunch. It’s the best way to get a taste of everything. |
| **Chicken Fried Steak** | Often cited as the best in town—huge portions, perfectly breaded, and smothered in your choice of brown or country gravy. |
| **Cinnamon/Raspberry Twists** | It’s practically a crime to leave without one. These warm, sugary breads are the restaurant’s signature “treat.” |
| **Potato Bacon Soup** | Thick, creamy, and loaded with flavor. It’s the ultimate comfort food on a cold Idaho day. |
| **Homemade Pies** | From Oatmeal Pie to Coconut Cream, Brittney and her team keep the bakery cases stocked with authentic, old-school recipes. |

### ** Management Spotlight: Brittney Dahlquist**

Brittney has been instrumental in navigating the restaurant through significant changes, including the passing of her father, Kelly, in 2020 and the 2023 relocation.

* **Legacy Driven:** She has been vocal about honoring her father’s 40-year dream, ensuring that even in a new building, the “home-cooked” feel remains exactly the same.
* **Staff Culture:** Under her management, the restaurant maintains a remarkably loyal staff (many have been there for years), which translates into that “friendly neighbor” service you mentioned.
* **The “Castle” Move:** Relocating a Pocatello institution was a massive risk, but Brittney and her mother Sheryl turned the move into a “fresh start” that has been widely embraced by the community.

### **A Quick Note for Fans**
As of February 2026, while the main **Butterburr’s Restaurant** is thriving in its new home, it was recently announced that the drive-through sister location, **Lickety Split**, is set to close. This makes it even more important to stop by the main restaurant to support Brittney and the crew!

Came here for breakfast while visiting the area. It was a Sunday and it wasn’t too busy, but we did wait a bit long for our server. I ordered an omelette with hashbrowns and got a maple twist on the side. The twist was the standout. Warm and just the right amount of sweet. Omelette and hashbrowns were okay.

Good soup + sandwich combos. Got the Italian sausage sandwich, served French dip style. Nice homey atmosphere as well. The cute waitresses don’t hurt either.

We loved the food delicious! Great place to sit down and enjoy a hot meal and talk with friends and family! Lots of tables and space! Our server was new or having a rough day.. they didn’t bring our appetizers. That was the only downside.

Butterburr’s has a comfortable, friendly atmosphere. They are locally/family owned and operated. Everything is homemade. They use real Idaho potatoes, which is a must for this Idaho girl. Their chicken fried steak is my favorite in town! Perfect texture and flavor. I also love their SST (Soup Sandwich Treat.) Their homemade soups are the best in town. I pick up a large chicken noodle soup anytime that anyone in my family is sick. It’s good anytime, though. My favorite treats are the cinnamon twist (it’s huge) and the oatmeal pie. It’s similar to pecan pie and oh so tasty. If you’re craving down home cooking, with hearty portions and reasonable prices, Butterburr’s is a great choice.

I stopped here for a quick lunch. I ordered the cheese frenchies. This is a cheese sandwich that is made with Texas toast and a few different types of cheeses, that is battered and deep fried. It’s incredibly good when dipped in ranch or fry sauce. I immediately wish I ordered tomato soup instead of the curly fries. I didn’t finish everything because it was fairly greasy, but that’s to be expected. I thought it was pretty good overall.

I’ll be honest, the food is good. But because of door dash, we weren’t even thought of as customers until my wife got someone’s attention.

The mashed potatoes, loaded with so much gravy that it mixed with other foods. Like shrimp. And it was tough. The best way to explain it, it had the consistency of play dough.

The restaurant smelt very old and a very unpleasant smell when you walk. The plates they use seem very outdated/old. Definitely gave off a senior living vibe. The food wasn’t very good at all. The waitresses was super awesome. Just is an over all rundown place with not so good food. Won’t be eating here ever again.
