We visited Burnt Onion Kitchen & Brews for the first time last night, and it was fantastic.I had the Greek salad, which is always one of my favorites. The portion was huge and packed with all the good stuff: cucumbers, tomatoes, Kalamata olives, feta cheese, and just a little bit of lettuce. Exactly the kind of salad I love. So good! You can really tell they put in the effort to make sure your experience is top-notch. We started with the walleye cakes, which were delicious, then had the burger and a club sandwich, both served with some insanely good fries and a magical onion dip. The menu has a great variety, and the view is just perfect. The service, atmosphere, and food were all spot on. Everything was absolutely amazing. The onion soup is truly to die for. I’d definitely come back again. Honestly, I’m surprised this place isn’t busier. 10 out of 10!

We came about a month ago and ate here several times which I would have averaged a 4 star experience. The food is just ok, the service at that time was great so it made up for it. The prices are high for what you get, but it’s a ski resort so I expect that.

Today, we had a terrible experience and I won’t come back without some sign of improvement. We had the worst waitress ever. We sat for 15+ minutes at 3pm when the restaurant was pretty much empty before we flagged the bus girl down to ask why we haven’t seen a server. She came out a bit later and apologized because she was “in the back eating snacks” and no one told her she had work to do.
She took our orders including an appetizer and brought the drinks promptly. Then we didn’t see her for another 30 minutes. The appetizer came with the rest of the food, only one plate was hot and the others were cold. I asked about the appetizer timing and she blamed the kitchen (this is chips and salsa, there is no excuse for not throwing them on a plate yourself and bringing them out! And I don’t like that she blamed the kitchen for her lapse in doing her job).
She asked if we needed anything when dropping off the food and we said we needed an extra plate for our kids who were sharing a meal. After 10 minutes, we put our kids food on a napkin for them to be able to eat. She never came back to our table. We flagged down a different waitress after 15 minutes to ask for dressing as my salad didn’t come with any and for the plate that we were hoping for.
Our original waitress came out with the dressing and said “whatever this is for…” What a terrible attitude. If you had bothered to check on us or follow through with your job then you would know why we needed things. I then asked for the manager to which she responded, “We don’t have one” so the team lead came out who looked like he was cooking in the back. He was obliging but obviously his strong suit is not in customer experience or care because he didn’t apologize and just asked us what we want him to do about our bad experience.

Idk… Give a damn? It’s a shame that today has soured my desire to ever come back and support this place.

They served me uncooked pasta, by the time I realized what I was eating was supposed to be the pasta (about half way through if that), sent it back. They gave me 40% off the one dish, not the total bill.. just 40% off of the uncooked dish and they acted like they did me a big favor. that dinner ultimately made me sick not even half hour after leaving.

We were really surprised to find such a meal on the menu. I had the lamb shank and it was really close to perfect. The veggies needed a bit longer to be tinder. Overall was pretty impressed with the presentation and ambiance.

The “Burnt Onion” restaurant is more of a “Fancy Ski Resort Food” restaurant. Because, the food here is really delicious and delicate, especially the cheeseburger, or “Burnt Onion Burger”. The meat is tender and Smokey with the crispy potato fries. The service here was kind and generous, and the location itself is the golden star. Would recommend to eat here after ski’ing a while!

At the foot of the mountain you can see the ski slopes in the summer. Dinner in the lodge that they ski from. Food was pretty good service was really good

Food: fettuccini Parmesan was flavorless but I filled out a review and maybe the chef will change the source of Parmesan, which was likely Cub generic, to something more flavorful.

Atmosphere: I prefer dimmer lighting as opposed to gym lighting.

What an awesome diamond in the rough, so glad my husband decided to come up here to race at Hill Fest in the Hill Drags. We came in the afternoon before the races to check in for racing. The Burnt Onion was such a gem! And the bartender Briita was GREAT. Very friendly, welcoming, and personable!! We had drinks for the most part and Briita was so attentative. We did also order Onion Peels and Burnt Onion Soup. Both delicious! DEFINITELY would recommend to check it out yourself! Beautiful establishment with wonderful friendly staff. 5⭐’s hands down!

Nice menu variety and the food is delicious .

Check out the chophouse menu after 4 PM.

The staff is very friendly with great attention to detail!

Highly recommend this place, it is not your typical Midwest Food joint. Try it out you won’t be disappointed.
