We grabbed a post shopping lunch at Burmatown, and couldn’t be happier. We arrived at 1:30 p.m., just before their post-lunch pause before dinner. Not to worry, the food came quickly and we were well warned before the kitchen shut down.
We had a quick lunch, sharing 2 dishes. First was Silken Cold Tofu Salad ($16). We were warned that this wasn’t really a salad (no lettuce), but went ahead. A large block of soft tofu covered with pickled vegetables and a delicious mélange of spices. Very good, but shockingly cold, as advertised.
Next was BBQ Pork BBQ Garlic Noodles ($18). This was a smooth rendition of this classic dish. The BBQ pork was the star here, being was plentiful and delicious. The garlic, if it was there, was not noticeable. I love garlic, so I was somewhat disappointed.
This was a small meal, but we took half of the noodles home. So the portions were adequate.

This little spot held so much warmth – you can feel the calm immediately as you walk through the doors. The service was EXCELLENT and the food was delicious. Many dishes were also offered as vegetarian or vegan. Their recipes use butter and you can detect the rich flavor in the samosas and other dishes. The proportions were just right, the space was not overly bright but the tables had their own cute little lamp. Despite the limited size of the venue, there was plenty of seating with booths and tables. Will be back

I can see why people go here, it’s different, but for me it’s not memorable or something I would seek. Flavors were okay, nothing unique, things were missing salt.

I really like the glazed ribs, but I have since gone GF for autoimmune reasons, which limits what I can have, and can no longer have the items I liked here (i.e. ribs)

We had their special salad, Mango salad, pork curry stew, fish chowder that we didn’t like, glazed ribs, and a stir fry so far.

The San Francisco Bay Area has one of the largest Burmese communities in the country, and no spot is better (word spreads fast) than Burmatown. Start with a fermented tea leaf salad (tossed right in front of you) and then get a mix of curries, garlic noodles, stews, and stir fries. Chef Jenny prepares delicious food using fresh local produce, perfectly paired with some of the best California wine. The menu is built for sharing, with standouts like bao, crispy angel wings, and samosas. Service is superb—Pearl took amazing care of me! Sleek, modern interior. Easy to get to and plenty of parking. I will be back soon.

Staff was very friendly and attentive.
Atmosphere was good, with enough outdoor seating to not overwhelm the staff.
Food was outstanding! All the items we ordered were delicious with great flavors.
Everything seen going to other tables, looked and smelled as good as anything we tried.

Make reservations if you’re going to show up after 5, they fill up fast and stay busy.

I always enjoy Burmese food. I will say the food was all decent but I was left disappointed in a few dishes. The restaurant was cute but gets very busy just as a heads up.

Likes :
1. The bbq meat with rhe garlic noodles (on the sweeter side which I enjoy)
2. Thai iced tea is always so good
3. Coconut rice

Not thrilled on:
1. The pork curry tasted like it was lacking flavor, as if someone forgot to add salt. The meat itself was cooked to perfection. Overall dissapointed in the flavor.
2. The tea left salad also seemed a little lack luster. I thought it needed something more.

Recommendations:
1. Make a reservation.
2. Don’t come if you are hard of hearing, it gets very busy and can be loud and hard to hear.

I went to this place two nights in a row. This is my current favorite restaurant and I hope to try everything on the menu at some point. The staff remembered us from the previous night. I highly recommend the wings the pork curry with the coconut rice and make sure to order the habanero sauce to go with everything. I can’t wait to go back again.
