WOW, best banh khot I’ve had. A MUST EAT

I’d come back for just the banh khot alone.

The inside was sweet and almost like a custard while still remaining quite crispy and savory on the outside.

Also HIGHLY recommend the nui chien bo xao (stir fried noodles with egg & beef) – a simple but well executed and delicious meal that reminded me of stir fried Thai noodles.

Bun bo hue was also really tasty but the other dishes just blew me away.

It seems like you can’t go wrong with their dishes, so eat away!

If you’re looking for a place with great atmosphere, this isn’t it. I’ll be honest, we almost didn’t stay when we went inside because the fermented shrimp paste smell was so strong and gave a dirty icky feeling. But if you’re looking for good food, then you’ve come to the right place. They have a very large menu at reasonable prices and the staff was very friendly and courteous. There is an assortment of Vietnamese dishes from the North all the way to the South, enough to delight everyone’s pallette. We had a party of 12 and everyone enjoyed their dish, even the ones that wanted to leave at first.

I ordered the Bún Đậu Mắm Tôm and Phá Lấu, and both dishes were outstanding.

The Bún Đậu Mắm Tôm was incredibly flavorful — the tofu was crispy on the outside and soft inside, the noodles were fresh, and the herbs added the perfect aroma. The shrimp paste dipping sauce (mắm tôm) was strong, rich, and exactly how it should be — a true taste of Vietnam. It’s definitely for those who appreciate authentic, bold flavors!

The Phá Lấu was another hit — tender, savory, and full of comforting spices. It’s hard to find phá lấu done right, but this one was spot-on.

If you’re sensitive to the potent aromas of fermented shrimp paste, then be careful coming here. Otherwise, I enjoyed this restaurant! The banh khot was super crispy and light. The fish sauce paired perfectly as the dipping sauce, which made up for the lack of seasoning on the shrimp. The portion sizes were fantastic. They were very generous with the herbs for all the dishes we ordered. Alongside the food, I also enjoyed the presentation of the dishes on imitation bamboo weaving plates. Most of the dishes came out pretty quickly.

My opinion, I think this broken rice dish has the same flavor as 95% of broken rice dishes in Vietnam. OMG

It was delicious, and I was surprised because the portions here were very large. So they prepared boxes, spoons, and plastic bags for you to serve yourself and take away ( that was a good point )

Wanted to try Bun Nhan Quan, but I don’t see myself returning here.
Banh khot (12pc) was delicious and the highlight of the meal.

Other dishes tried were below average.
– Hu tieu mi kho (dry version): Biggest gripe was the meats (75-80% were pork intestine/kidney/liver; only found a few pork slices & some ground pork)
– Bun rieu: ok but a bit oily
– Bun bo hue: broth was mid

Workers could be more friendly. Bathroom was also a little icky.

I was looking around to find banh khot and my wife’s acquaintance had recommended this spot. We really enjoyed our visit here. The banh khot here was a great find. Banh Khot Vung Tau was my choice of the two options available. While we visited for the banh khot, the other items we had there were good too. The spicy shrimp noodles was delicious. I’d recommend to ask for some fresh chilies and mix it in with the sauce that comes with the banh khot. Service was friendly and courteous. I’d definitely come back again. Would highly recommend.

Everything was good enough. We ordered fresh Orange juice and they told us the machine for squeezing juice was down.

If you’re looking for authentic Vietnamese food, you’ll definitely find it at Bun Nhan Quan. They have a very extensive menu with a variety of items to choose from.

This restaurant also has communal seating. Please keep this in mind if you’re more used to a private dining experience. This was our first time sitting with other people and it took a few minutes before we got acclimated.

We ordered some of the most popular dishes and they were all on point!

Banh Khot – These mini shrimp pancakes were light and crispy, very delicious

Bun Dau Mam Tom – This dish comes with rice noodles, meats, herbs, tofu, and shrimp sauce. Extremely fresh and authentic!

Phal Lau Houston – This is basically an offal stew with bread. Definitely flavorful but the seasoning was leaning more on the sweeter side.

Bot Chien – These fried taro cakes were fried to perfection.

Card payments are accepted but a discount will be given for those who pay with cash

For the overall experience, will definitely recommend just for the food alone. The communal seating is the only drawback.
