This is quickly becoming a late night or early morning go-to spot for me. Quality beverages at a good price, great food, and good music!
24/7 eats including breakfast or dinner anytime. I’ve destroyed some chimichangas the last couple of visits – they’re my fav. Pardon my pics, I start in before I think to snap a photo.
I’ve met some wonderful and interesting people, like something out of a John Kennedy Toole novel.
On the border between The Quarter and The Marigny, it’s easily accessible from the #8 Rampart Streetcar that runs from Union Terminal if coming/going from Amtrak/FlixBus/Greyhound/202 RTA Airport Express, and other public transpo. Easy 20 min walk from Canal. Live music calendar on their website is up to date with traditional Jazz, Cajun, and a variety of local singers and songwriters. The music venue is adjacent, with an entrance on Burgundy – tickets available through their website.
If the Dunces reference rings true for you, you can visit Ignatius J. Reilly’s statue under the clock on the down-river side of the 800 block of Canal Street, a short through The French Quarter.

We chose to eat here and hang out for a bit. The food was great! And the drink selection was also really good. For being smaller, this place had a fantastic variety! Really enjoy this place! Will be back again!

Born and raised here and never ate the burger at Buffa’s since I’m usually at Port Of Call a block down, so I’m gonna compare and contrast. Buffa’s hamburger patty has POC’s beaten on flavor, it’s excellent, but Buffa’s isn’t as generous with the cheese as POC is.

I also substituted fries for a side salad, which I figured there would be a charge for, I have zero problem with that. What I do have an issue with is being charged .50 for salad dressing when that’s something that should automatically come with the salad. Also, for those of you that hate mushrooms like I do, be warned that they dump GIANT mushroom slices right on top the salad, so be sure to tell them to leave those in the kitchen. I tried the garlic vinaigrette per another review I read, and it was okay but a little on the sweeter side so I wouldn’t order it again and stick to my blue cheese. I also didn’t understand being charged $2 because I had a To Go order. I always leave a tip for to go orders, but by being auto charged $2 to just put my plate into a plastic bag with zero utensils or napkins, that discourages me from doing so. Despite these critiques, the food was delicious and I would definitely visit them again to try something else.

A side note, another review mentioned “a stray cat roaming around” well he’s not technically a stray, it’s the bar’s cat and he’s well taken care of and fed and doesn’t bother anybody. Don’t like it, don’t come. ‍♀️

Fun place, great bartender, great food. I had the Reuben sandwich with fries. Also took home the delicious whiskey bread pudding.

I do love this place as a divey / authentic neighborhood music spot. On my 50th birthday, my infant niece was kicked out of this bar which will be a story told at her wedding. Funny enough, you can do almost anything in NOLA but you best not bring a baby into a bar even when it’s quiet and empty on a Tuesday afternoon. On this visit, we came to see Chaz’s washboard band which was super cool. We were a bit turned off by the $10 cover… we tip bands generous but this cover capped us at the 10 cuz it made us a bit crabby. But overall really fun.

The music was great! The worst service ever- and the tip was included so she can treat customers like crap. Food was ok. There are so many other wonderful places in the city that treat their customers nicely so don’t waste your time coming here. When asked 30 minutes after why half the table didn’t get our food, “she stated I have been doing this a long time!” Really?? Can you not see that half of us are not eating! When asked for water she stated “it’s over there get it yourself.” Thank goodness my company was good since we were celebrating birthdays.

Jay is an amazing Bartender in the back room with live music. The were quite a few people for the live event. He took care of everyone courteously and in a professional organized manner. Always made sure everyone’s water glass was full; very nice. The Blue burger subbing salad for fries is my favorite. In my opinion one of the best burgers in town; excellent salad, too. And Great local live piano.

I came between 12AM – 1:30AM, and right off the bat the bartender made a comment about me asking too many questions (What was her well tequila? What was her top shelf tequila? And how much was each one? For reference, they only had 1 well & technically 3 mid shelf & 1 top shelf tequilas: Milargo $25, Corralejo $27, Cimarron $33, and Codigo $55). You’d think she’d be making those comments as if it were busy, but nope! There’s only 4 of us in here I ordered the $32 redfish & Cesar salad and it was TO DIE FOR When I told the bartender my drink order which was a double shot of tequila on the rocks, 1 canned drink, and a water, she refused me the water. I had to literally ask the cook for water. When I tried to make change for a $20 for the slot machines to gamble, she never made eye contact with me and continued talking to other patrons. She gave me 2 x $5’s & 1 x $10 (I specifically told her before she handed me any money I wanted 3 x $5’s & 5 x $1’s…twice). When I told her I needed a to-go box she huffed and a puffed and almost blew my house down… I’ve been dining in for almost an hour and a half now, and get this the bartender has checked on me a total of 0 times, AND I’M SITTING RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER…AT THE BAR!! I know, a shock. I feel like the roaches outside get better service than I do. With all that being said, I would come here again for the food. The redfish is sooo good. However, I might just order take out next time!
