Bucharest Grill

  4.4 – 2 reviews  $ • Middle Eastern restaurant

Welcome to Detroit We opened our doors over 10 years ago in Detroit when the economy was rough, the streets were quiet and everybody said we were crazy. We believed in Detroit when most people didn’t and we were right. There is no place we would rather be than right here in the city. Our food ranges from classic Romanian dishes to middle-eastern concepts and American standards, each with its own unique twist. Everything is handmade in a traditional kitchen as it should be with original recipes that you won’t find anywhere else. Detroiters crave our shawarma, but those in-the-know dive deep into our menu for flavors you won’t fined else where. Come in once and we know you’ll be back!

Trendy Middle Eastern & American counter-serve doling out shawarma, sandwiches, burgers & dogs.

So glad I ran into this place, will be back again tomorrow. It was so delicious. The chicken shawarma was seasoned just right and cooked to perfection served tons of salad, crisp veggies, and a tangy oil vinaigrette that tasted amazing . Absolutely found the garlic spread and pita the best pair to ever exist. This place was so good, will be back when visiting again.

I love their food, but the young women at the front of the shop are always rude. Every single time I’ve come here I’ve been met with attitude, eye rolling, and not a smile in sight. If you want to hate your job so bad, go work in a prison. It’s not hard to smile. It’s not hard to be polite or have common courtesy when a paying customer is asking a question. Apparently the management does not care, as you can see by the dozens and dozens of reviews regarding this issue. They forgot my salad dressing, too.

It’s the chicken shwarma for me! Curly fries hot out the grease do not disappoint either! Every time I am in Detroit, Bucharest Grill is a must stop! The chicken is so flavorful and tender, the garlic aioli pushes it over the top, wrapped with fresh veggies, pickle and then that yummy pita!!! They’re scrumptious, I came all the way from Nashville for one!

Found METAL in my food today. Lol manager was more concerned about a receipt, with a whole non chalant attitude. Showed no empathy, but it’s fine though.

Amazing place to go for lunch. Chicken shawarma is cooked perfectly and wrapped up tightly in foil. Curly fries are fresh and delicious. Fine in service is fast even during the lunch rush.

I’ve been eating at Bucharest for the last 10 years and never had a complaint until this last year. Horrible service, all the girls are very rude. It is so loud in there that you have to literally yell your order, but get an attitude back from one of the girls and treats you like you’re stupid. It could have been because i was white, i honestly felt like i didn’t belong and was treat with so much disrespect like i wasn’t supposed to be there or something. I went there with my mom and 12 year old brother, their first time here….i had placed my order at this point and in like 10 seconds my mom changed her mind on what she wanted and asked if she get maybe get something else before they started making it and the girl rolled her eyes said she had to get the manager to change it in the computer, but in the most disrespectful way, ok whatever. (as i see and hear other staff members making comments) she then comes back and says she can’t do anything about it because the ‘“manager is too busy right now, it’s already being made and is in a bad mood today” LIKE ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? Because he or she is having a bad day you can’t help YOUR customers and change my moms order??? This place is an absolute joke maybe it was because i’m white, the other locations are just as bad & the food is not that great anymore. Our plan was to sit in there and eat but they waited outside till the food was ready and we just left. I’ll be going to Dearborn for Shawarmas from now on.

This location is within walking distance from where I work, but the customer service is bad and the cleanliness has dropped. I watched 3 employees walk around the pickles on the floor. Fries tasted like old oil and were not hot, which was surprising since I waited for the order to be prepared. Sad, Bucharest is my favorite treat.

Today I received the WORST chicken shawarma ever ! It was cold and the chicken was burnt! Inflation is too high to receive bad food and service ! I’m so upset because I got all the way home. A waste of money and when did they raise prices $10 is absurd!

The quality and quantity is good. However, the price here have gone up 120% in less than 2 years. A beef Swarma uses to cost $4.25 and now it’s $9.50. Not sure if I am a fan of Bucharest anymore…

Food wasn’t bad but nothing special. The hummus was decent but would pass on the shawarma. The chicken was kind of dry. People were pleasant and restaurant was generally clean, but the soda machine literally fell apart as I was getting ice and no one seemed at all surprised or concerned with it.
