Outstanding service and a great Chicago stop!
Stopped into Brown Bag Seafood Co. while in town for work and had an excellent experience. The food was fresh and delicious, but the service truly set this place apart.
Charlie and James were awesome—super helpful, friendly, and welcoming. They made great menu suggestions and even took the time to point out cool places to see around Chicago. It felt genuine and made my visit even better.
Highly recommend this spot if you’re looking for great seafood and top-tier customer service. I’ll absolutely be back when I’m in the city again.

Definitely recommend; the service was amazing. I had trouble picking what to order and the staff kindly helped me at the front. Food was amazing and extremely presentable. The sweet tea is delicious, definitely unique it tastes like honey and seems very healthy yet still yummy. They even gave me a free candy for dessert! To top it off, my food was ready in like 2-3 minutes!!

Well this is the first time ordering at the Brown Bag. It’s a seafood franchise. It is unique in regards to how to order food because they give you a menu but you can either select their classics with a marker or build your own. Service was pretty fast I wouldn’t necessarily say it was friendly. I was at the Willis Tower and I already tried Shake Shack hamburgers next door which I was not impressed and this is more of a food court for tourists inside the Willis Sears Tower. In regards to the ambience it’s more touristy despite that I work just right across the street. In regards to what I ordered,it was actually very delicious and healthy and within my budget. Hoping for $15 but I guess you could never buy it a healthy meal for $15 even for dinner. So I kind of compare this as an upgrade to certain fast food seafood places especially in Chicago like the local ones like J&J fish, Shark’s in the south side which is really not healthy to eat with all the breading on the fish and shrimp. They have those selections too with fish and chips however you have the options if you’re trying to stay healthy and not have any prediabetes which I have. This was a better choice and it was kind of like a bucket list. The vegetables that they put with the green beans and broccoli and brussel sprouts were actually very delicious especially brussel sprouts. The way they cooked it didn’t have a specific traditional taste brussel sprouts are usually cooked that I don’t like but the way they did it was good. They’re “Clam chowda” as they spell it was actually very delicious. I had to avoid the oyster crackers because those are carbs yet the clam chowder has potatoes so it really didn’t defeat its purpose LOL. It was very delicious right amount of cream and not too creamy like some clam chowders even compared to the ones in a can like Campbell’s chunky brand. I wish I could eat the fish and chips for 16 $17 but I got to avoid breaded fish. It also kind of reminds me of an ’80s relic called Long John silver again but it’s much more healthy for seafood I would definitely come back. . When dining in they give you the little electric buzzing light device similar to like if you’re waiting for a table at outback steakhouse or something like that. That’s because they’re making your order and you just go up and pick it up. Otherwise four out of five stars much better than the Shake Shack hamburger place that I was not impressed next door. They give you a complimentary swedish fish I guess as a candy dessert. Do go there between 3 pm and 6 pm because the dinner meal is now $15 instead of $20 before 3 pm and after 6 pm which I will do next time.

Food was absolutely BUSSN! I ordered the fish and chips which was nice and crispy along with some salmon that was flaky and juicy. Came all the way from MN to try their food and I was VERY IMPRESSED!

My first experience at Brown Seafood was really good. James was extremely patient and took the time to explain everything on the menu, which I truly appreciated. The food was fresh, well-seasoned, and came out hot. The environment was very clean and welcoming, and the service made the experience even better. You can tell they care about their customers. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending this place to others!

It seemed like a great quick lunch spot. I ordered shrimp bowl with miso cashew and it was really good. The amount was good enough to fill my stomach up. It would be a great spot if you love seafood! I didn’t have to wait for the food and food was made fast. I loved it!

My server today James was friendly, attentive, and very accommodating from start to finish. He checked in at the right moments, made sure everything was exactly how I needed it, and had such a warm, welcoming attitude.
As a Black woman, it’s always a great feeling to receive excellent service from someone who looks like you—it added an extra layer of comfort and pride to the experience. Overall, the service made my visit to Brown Bag Co. even better. I’ll definitely be back!

Average for lunch value.
First time ordering was a bit confusing at first, but overall easy to follow. Food portion is a bit small, it is alright for a quick lunch. Got the hot and crispy shrimp with greens and grains, truffle-parm tots, and ginger Arnold Palmer. Crispy shrimp has good flavor, but batter is on the thick side, a bit heavy and oily. Greens and grains mis is good and fresh. Truffle-parm tots is decent, truffle flavor is light. Summer seasonal drink is refreshing and worth trying.

Great food court option. I arrived to Chicago and needed a quick dinner, circa 5pm, before getting some work done that night. Brown bag was what it promised: a healthy salmon fillet, great garlic bread and some truffle oil tossed tots. The 5pm dinner special is $15. And the value is very good. I recommend this option. And feel better that I picked this over Shake Shack nearby.
