Friday night is date night. Last week we checked out BRGR State College. As typical, my husband started with beer, I started with Pinot Grigio, drinks came quick, delightfully chilled and generous. I had the poutine fries with an egg and beef short ribs, beyond delicious although both Hubby and I found the gravy a bit on the salty side. It’s listed as an appetizer on the menu, but the portion was huge; I will get 2 meals out of it. The coleslaw though, one of the best I’ve ever had!!! All kinds of fresh crispness, delicately seasoned, not too sweet but just enough tang! Bruce built his own Bison Burger, it was ginormous and he said it was perfection! I ended my meal with a coffee milkshake, a glass full of frozen deliciousness! We will definitely go back

Spot-on service. As first-time diners at BRGR, it was great to be served by Mawi, who is a very fast, friendly, knowledgeable server. The food was cooked to order and delicious. Loved the chips, and I was happy to see multiple options on the menu.

Fun little place downtown. Our server was fantastic and very personable. The food was delicious, my spiked milkshake was perfect, and it was very comfortable. We all enjoyed the whole experience. Wish we lived closer to visit again.

I know I went there during one of their busiest time (move in dates) but service was slower than I expected for busy time. While waiting for service I did notice that their elevator for handicap people was out of service. No one was there to greet for about 5-7 minutes. I asked for to-go order as I knew they are packed and I didn’t want to take away chair from other families. I asked if I can sit at the bar to order, and was said OK to order at bar. I sat for 15-17 minutes and no one came to ask for my order. I finally went back to greeter and ask her to take my order. And after that (1 cheeseburger Togo) it took them 30 + minutes to deliver my food. All this after I had to find parking spot. Now I know not to go there during ANY events or when I am in rush. Food was OK. But definitely not worth $16 for burger only. I will give them another try when I go there again.

Dined in after a hike on 7/16/23 and previously had great experiences so we expected the service to be the same. We were sat and waited 10 minutes before a table was sat next to us and served right away. We waited another 10 before asking the host if we were assigned a server and she said yes. The server who took the order from the table next to us told the host that she’d take care of us, and she did so minutes later. She was monotone and only asked what we wanted to drink, which is fine, but she was bubbly and talkative with her other tables. The food took 40 minutes to come out from the kitchen due to lack of staff and other issues, which again is understandable, but we had to find out from overhearing her tell her other tables about the issues but continue to ignore us. We had to stop her anytime we needed anything because she checked on every table except ours whenever she made her rounds. We had to wait over 10 minutes for her to even be in our area to stop her for water, and another 10 for her to actually bring the water back to the table. A food runner brought out our orders, he was nice and talked to us more than our server. Our sides were cold and our burgers were not made correctly but we did not know when we would see our server again to fix it so we begrudgingly ate our food. We stopped our server again to ask for boxes after sitting for another 10 minutes and staring at her, hoping she would notice that we were done but she didn’t even look in our direction and continued checking on other tables. She brought out 2 checks instead of asking if we wanted it split or together, we wanted it as one check but we were ready to leave so I just told her to take my card for both, and did so before she could leave for 10 more minutes. She never did bring out our boxes or apologize or give a reason for the service received. The host walked by and we stopped her to ask for the boxes we asked for 10 minutes prior and she was the nicest person in the restaurant. She took our food and put it in a bag and genuinely wished us a great rest of our day.

Certain aspects of this place are great but others are not so great. When I first started coming in here I thought the burgers were really tasty, but the last time I was in the burger buns were really dry. I don’t know if there is a new recipe for the buns or watt but they did not taste the same. I will say the onion rings were fantastic and the milkshake was bomb. We had a really good bartender this time around, but service can be very slow at times.

BRGR is a clean cut burger joint . It’s usually always packed, so the energy is present! The food was pretty good! Milkshakes were a little thin for me. I got the Gigi, a secret menu item burger (must request from Gigi herself!) Sweet potato fries were delicious , but fries aren’t included !

The shakes and burgers are good! You design them so if you don’t like it, it’s your fault lol. The service was great but the food takes a while to come out. We’ve been here several times and expect to sit for a while. It was just enough time to finish a shake. We have gotten wrong orders but they fixed it fast (especially with new staff or they dont hear you because it is loud.

This was our first time and we really enjoyed our time. Our waitress was friendly and always checking in. The food was good. We had craft your own bison burgers with a side of sweet potatoe fries. There was a pretty decent selection of draft beer as well. We will be back.

Very pleased with this restaurant during our recent visit to Penn State for Family Weekend. Our son, who is a freshmen at Penn State, recommended BRGR as he previously visited and raved about the food. It was the perfect location to have a good meal while watching the Penn State game with multiple screen tvs. The atmosphere is fantastic and James our waiter was very friendly and offered good service. We ordered the chachos (chip nachos) as an appetizer which our the best nachos style appetizer we have ever had by far. The shredded chicken combo with chip style nachos are a must have! We then ordered the create your own burger with a pretzel bun, egg, cheese and angus meat. It was really good but lacked a bit of flavor in the meat. The BRGR sauce, similar to a McDonalds secret sauce but better, helped make the burger fantastic! The shakes are good and I had the Sam Adams Pumpkin ale which was good too. This location even has a small room inside an old bank safe. We had a great time and highly recommend this location.
