Awesome. They apparently were short-staffed, but we couldn’t tell because the service was great. Beautiful place, delicious food. Strong coffee!!

The restaurant is gorgeous. The food was not anything special. Also, it took forever for our waitress to bring chips and salsa.

Recommended to come here and it didn’t disappoint. It’s located just inside the Ant Street Inn, and has an air of classiness with white linen tables and a stocked bar as well. Fresh baked warm bread accompanied our drinks, and the bread was ciabatta like, dense but soft. We ordered the mushroom and Swiss burger, and the eggplant parmigiana with fettuccine Alfredo. Both dishes were excellent, the eggplant and pasta both hot and prepared well, and the mushroom burger cooked to perfection without even asking. The steak fries that came with the burgers were excellent, they tasted like golden potatoes and were definitely different than the regular steak fries you may have had before. We recommend getting a sangria to drink, it’s sweet and delicious. The place was very clean and the food came out a lot quicker than we expected. Advise the gentleman to visit the men’s room for a cultured experience wink wink. All in all a great place we would definitely go to again to try different items from the menu. Our two dishes and two alcoholic drinks totaled under $40, so it’s definitely not going to break the bank.

Surly, slow service. This restaurant stops serving breakfast at 10:30am (!!!) on Sunday, and the lunch menu is heavy dishes that are just not appealing at that hour. The kitchen was very slow, we got our food 40 minutes after we got there (though it took forever to order because staff ignored us). We had to ask for refills, and someone tried to bus our table while we were eating. The food was fine but not worth the strife. No kids’ menu.

The staff was rude and seemed annoyed that we there. The food was good except the bacon which tasted like it had been deep fried, it was not good! Atmosphere was not warm or inviting. So definitely a place I will not be revisiting anytime soon!

Authentic and historic building. Cafe is inside a classic “old west” tavern. Great homestyle food. Great sourdough bread. Beautiful downtown restaurant

Passing through Historic Downtown Brenham on Sunday morning and this was the only place we could find that was open early. Wanted breakfast but they stopped serving at 10:00 (we arrived almost 10:30). Stayed for lunch and enjoyed it. Service wasn’t overly friendly but efficient. (The Grill is right next door to the Ant Street Inn. Keep in mind that none of the downtown shopping is open on Sunday except for a couple shops that open at 12 or 1 pm.)

The Brenham Grill is one of those somewhat hidden places that can be found in a lot of small cities. It’s in the old Ant Street Inn in the Brenham Historic District (a nice place to stay if you’re spending a night in Brenham) and is a pleasant low key place with a nice atmosphere at food that’s reliably good, particularly the “South of the Border” selections. We live locally and have been eating at the Brenham Gill for years…no complaints yet.
