The Bait Shop in Friday Harbor seriously impressed me. The halibut fish and chips were some of the tastiest I’ve ever had, super fresh, lightly breaded, perfectly crisp, and not greasy at all. The calamari was delicious too, tender with a light fry that let the flavor shine without feeling heavy. Their tartar sauce is top-tier, rich and tangy in all the right ways, and the fries were crisp and satisfying. And whatever you do, don’t skip the clam chowder, it was creamy, flavorful, and easily one of the highlights of the meal 🙂

I’m a fish and chips lover and have to try it wherever I go. This place hit the spot for me and I enjoyed my meal. We got the halibut, cod, clam chowder, and chicken. It was all golden crispy goodness. The chicken strips seemed fresh and my son loved them. I prefer fresh cut fries, but these were still good. I’d definitely recommend this place! fyi, I took my pictures towards the end of our meal.

Great place downtown for a quick and easy meal. The halibut was flaky and tender. The fries were salty and crisp. Everything was hot and fresh. We are at the counter which the kids really enjoyed. Not a ton of space for strollers or large groups, but we sat our family of four pretty comfortably in the corner of the outward facing bar. Highly recommend for a delicious taste of seafood.

I’m usually hesitant to try fish and chips because I’m rarely impressed but the halibut here was really tasty! Whereas fried fish around this region can be really greasy and bland, this fish had a nice, light crispiness to it and good flavor, especially with the tartar sauce. Enjoyed outside on a bench and it was a lovely vibe

FABULOUS FRIES!
Looking all over Friday Harbor for somewhere open to eat on a Wednesday evening and found this place. I ordered a cup of PNW chowder and a basket of fries to take back to my room. The service was quick and friendly. The chowder was good, the fries were excellent!

Flagstaff Mouse
Very simple menu, but that made it quick to order and get our food. The prices felt reasonable. Some indoor and outdoor seating. If you walk around back there is a public space with picnic tables as well. Probably not as ideal on a rainy day but perfect for a dry day. Nice cheap kids soft serve which was great to keep our two year old happy. (And they have chocolate!)
