What a very nice pleasant surprise. The server was pleasant and the food was great. The place is old and has a small town feel so don’t expect 5 star environment but if you want a good breakfast and coffee this is a good stop.

The staff was extremely friendly. The food was very good. The insides a little dated but overall the food makes up for it. I would definitely eat here again when traveling through bowling Green.

Great food. I got open faced roast beef over mashed potatoes.

I did not realize that smoking was allowed in restaurants in the state of Missouri. My first mistake. I ordered sweet and sour chicken. The rice was cool clumped yellow. The sweet-and-sour sauce was nothing I recognized. When I left most of it on my plate the only thing I was asked was if I wanted it to go bag. No apologies for not taking credit cards. I should’ve read the reviews first. Maybe next time I will

I rated this restaurant 5 stars in every category, even atmosphere, as long as you enter the establishment with the concept that it is a diner. When you walk in, it’s the quintessential small town diner- Friendly people and the aroma of good food.

We ordered an appetizer of onion rings, they arrived piping hot, looking and tasting like perfectly battered and fried home-made onion rings. Fantastic.

We were a table of two. One ordered from the entree menu, a two piece cod selection. It came with cole slaw, choice of potato, green beans, a choice of salad or soup and a scoop of ice cream.
One ordered from the sandwich menu, a pork tenderloin which came with a choice of soup. (There was an option to add on fries, we decided not to)

All the choices we made were great.
The batter on the fried foods was light and crispy. The chicken noodle soup was full of flavour. The vegetables were cooked well. The ice cream was vanilla (my favourite) and tasty.

The portions were generous! We watched them bring out plates of food for others too, so much food (bring a cooler with you so you can take leftovers home)

The service was great. Our waitress was friendly and patient while we asked many questions about different selections, and then she made sure we never lacked for anything while we enjoyed our meal.

The only down side about this place is that we almost didn’t get to enjoy it due to the fact that they are a cash and check place only. (We found some “emergency” cash in our car) They don’t accept credit cards, so make sure and grab your check book or some cash before you head over here. It’s well worth the trip.

I am always in support of local businesses. This order was a lot of food! Slaw, corn, baked potatoes, fried catfish as entree, and a scoop of ice cream. Definitely worth the money. Waitress was very sweet

Location is a health hazard, beware. First, dense cigarette smoke hits you as you walk in. The smoking area is to the left of the door and has open air to the remainder of the room. It seems the circulation system in the restaurant pushes the smoke filled air into the main room. Second, the restroom had no toilet paper. We notified staff/management of the lack of toilet paper and waited four minutes. On second check, the restroom still had no toilet paper. The restroom was ok on general cleanliness. Coffee was no good. And, be sure to bring cash as the restaurant has not entered the 21st century by accepting credit and debit cards. Unless you enjoy dining in cigarette smoke, being unable to use the bathroom after a greasy meal and paying a fee to the local ATM to get dirty paper cash – stay away.
