On top of a hill on Main Street in Boonton, NJ sits a very nondescript neighborhood sushi restaurant, but don’t let looks fool you. This small casual eatery is slinging out omakase quality fish.
The chef’s here are consistent. They take pride in the quality of fish that they offer which changes weekly if not daily depending on what their distributor has to offer.
Many of the choices you will not see unless you partake in a $150+ omakase menu.
Some of our favorite pieces include the NegiToro hand roll which they add chopped Japanese radish, scallions and sesame seeds to. Outstanding!
We are also big fans of their Artic Char which gets paired with sliced avocado, their hamachi (yellowtail) seared salmon belly which just melts in your mouth, their madai is spectacular, scallops are delicious, sea eel is done right!
The Mr Power Roll is one of our favorite rolls.
We have added the Sushi House to our normal weekly rotation at our home. The prices are very reasonable and the quality is outstanding.

Boonton Sushi House is hands down my favorite spot for sushi! The fish is always incredibly fresh, and every roll is packed with flavor. The Spicy Girl roll is my absolute favorite — it’s the perfect mix of spice and deliciousness. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is inviting, and every visit feels like a treat. Highly recommend if you’re craving top-notch sushi!

Crispy duck roll was on point, though the duck wasn’t crispy. Diamond roll was great, needed the soy sauce though. As good as when I lived in Boonton 20 years ago.

Satisfying and “oishii” food but service can be warmer and friendlier. No complaints about the portions and the food – the Kamikaze roll/Sashimi Combo, Yakisoba and Sushi rolls we ordered were delicious! And they were all made fast. But I guess the server who attended to us was new. It will be nice if a manager comes in to check on customers, or customers are greeted with a traditional Japanese welcome or farewell. The washroom was really clean when we went there I must say. At the end of the day, a warm service complements the whole experience. But overall, great food!

This is the best local sushi spot. The staff is always super responsive and nice. The fish is always delicious and fresh. The rice is cooked perfectly. The location is not far off 287, so if you are just passing through, I highly recommend this spot. If you are local to the area, this should be in your rotation of local spots to support. Street parking on 202/Main is free.

Cozy. Quality of food is good. Sushi chefs work quick – we always get party boat C and it always gets to us very fast even when the place is packed. They close between 2 – 4pm. Last time we got there a little before 2pm and was promptly served, we wanted to order more sushi and several deserts but we were neglected, then rushed and practically pushed out the door a minute after our last bite. P.S. while still in the middle of our meal, a worker brought out sleeping pillows and put them right on the table before some of the staff took and went to sleep. Wish they didn’t put sleeping pillows right on the table and wish they just told us to go somewhere else and can’t serve us because they were closing soon for their afternoon break.

Went with my partner for an early dinner. The staff is friendly and attentive. Service was fast, prices are on the affordable range (less than an upscale location. On par with other casual sushi places) Food is AMAZING. Fresh, great attention to detail. Whether hot or cold entre, BSH will not disappoint!

I’m from out of town (PA) visiting NJ. I just happened to discover to sushi house.
I had lunch here and I ordered one of their lunch special. Sushi, sashimi plate plus side salad. Fish is fresh and serving portion is just right. Sashimi was perfect cut. Even their California roll was made to perfection, not too much sushi rice.
For sure I will come back again.

I ordered the spicy tuna roll and as a self-proclaimed spicy tuna roll connoisseur, I had to give my two cents on my experience. First, the quality of the fish itself was excellent, hence, the three stars. HOWEVER, almost half of the contents of the roll were Panko breadcrumbs. It felt as if I was eating a chicken cutlet without the chicken. For $7.50 per roll, there are definitely cheaper and tastier sushi places. I’m sure their other rolls not containing Panko are better due to the freshness of the fish, but definitely avoid the spicy tuna roll.
