This is my new go-to sushi place as of today. Discovered Black Tie by chance and as a sushi lover I had to try. The customer service I received was wonderful, they were polite and answered all of my questions. The food did not disappoint! I got the #1 Platter which comes with 4 rolls, 2 sides and dessert for $25 an incredible deal for such high quality food. The sushi was perfection as well as the spring rolls, chicken dumplings and tempura banana dessert. Thank you Black Tie Sushi, for such a great experience!

Black Tie Sushi catered a family event for 60 people last year. Their presentation was beautiful. The brought all essential extras. They had a large variety of sushi with extras for folks that were not sushi fans. The best surprise – their affordability. Fast forward to 8.28.2020 during COVID-19. My niece wanted to treat me and my husband to sushi. She popped by with pick up from Black Tie Sushi. She had Dave pick our selection. I am addicted. Then she shared his menu. I can be addicted affordably. Black Tie Sushi has unbelievably LOW prices for sushi. Love, love, love Black Tie Sushi!

I ordered using grubhub. Order was delayed as they were busy. Ok, that is fine it is a Friday evening. Two items ordered were missing. I ordered sashimi as well and what showed up were still frozen slabs of salmon!!!! I wouldn’t recommend this place and I probably won’t try it again for some time. If they can impress if and when I try to decide to try it again I may change my mind. For now try the many better options for sushi.

The sushi from here is gross. The rice tasted off and had a bad texture. The “yakisoba” was definitely not made with the correct type of noodle for this dish and it was bland and tasted like nothing. Overall we hated this food and will not be ordering again from this restaurant.

Sushi was better than aqua reef, sushi freak and the late Okazuri.

My daughter requested Black Tie Sushi in celebration of her 21st birthday this week, and as she put it: “It just tastes like it was made with love, by someone that just enjoys making others happy with food!” Thank you for the wonderful food and for making my daughter’s special day even more special !

Well, we may have a new credible new entrant into the sparce Las Cruces sushi scene. Tucked in a storefront in a El Paseo strip mall with Crunch Fitness and east of Long John Silver is Black Tie Sushi. Although its pandemic hours are Noon-2P for lunch and 5-8P for dinner are short, we tried pickup for sushi rolls (Dragon tail and Kalifornia) and veggie and shrimp tempura. Of note, was the savory rolls and golden brown fried tempura batter which was not dark colored indicative of frying oil past its prime. The Kalifornia roll consisted of crab (really surimi, compacted fish loaf), eel, and avocado and Dragon tail composed of surimi crab, eel, w/eel sauce, cucumber with a panko coating. Both were very tasty. A blemish with the carryout was discovered when we opened the bag and found ONLY packets of soy sauce. No wasabi or tempura dipping sauce. Had to return to get these important condiments. A revelation was their use of ponzu sauce, a citrus, soy sauce and dashi for a tempura dipping sauce. It was really tangy and superior to dipping sauces of dashi and soy sauce which were so bland that soy sauce was added. A very good first impression and we’ll be back to more sushi were are named for prominent Las Cruces locations, like Soledad Canyon, Red Hawk, Las Alturis, etc.

Ordered from here a few times now. The food is great but the overall customer service is mediocre at best. 5 stars for taste and presentation.
